I've been watching Inglorious Basterds again.
His acting during the first speech he gave when the Jews are lined up in front of him, is abysmal. Actually it seems like his entire performance was off. Was this intentional? His accent is not at all believable.

I think this is what turned me off the first time I saw this. Its like he waisn't trying at all.

I think it's somewhat intentional. The movie has sort of a comic book feel to it and doesn't take itself too seriously. If you had a real Clint Eastwood type in that role it would be a better performance, but not in line with the movie.

Another reason I think this is that Pitt is obviously not a natural in this type of role and Tarantino could have found a character actor if he really needed a quality performance.

I liked Pitt in the movie, he's having fun with it and so is his character, but when I initially saw the trailers I felt same way you did

His speech sucks.
His dialog sucks.
His performance sucks.
The movie sucks.

I get irritated when people try to tell me how great it is.
Its not.

If this was supposed to be funny then they should have made it funny, not silly (half the time) like they're being lazy. Half of the actors were serious. They're what made the film bareable.

I love it. I thought the parts where he talked about "killin' natzees" were the best.

I liked Inglorious Basterds much better after my second viewing. Much of the acting and movie style didn't meet my initial expectations going in when I first saw it. After I realized what style of movie Tarantino was making I enjoyed it far more.

If you go into Pulp Fiction expecting Goodfellas you're in for a disappointment. Same if you go into Inglorious Basterds expecting Saving Private Ryan. I'm not just talking about movie quality, I'm talking about style and tone.

You wouldn't know a good movie if the best one of all time would be inserted into your cerebral cortex.

You have absolutely no taste and no class what so ever.

That said, it's a pretty shitty movie from QT, i expect better from him, PF was the epitome of what he can make if he really tries and it was awesome.

It was ok but not great.

It was fine. Acted properly for the tone of the movie IMO. I don't have as high of an opinion of the movie as some but I liked it enough and part of that was how ridiculous Pitt's character was.

Now Troy OTOH... he couldn't act worth shit in that one and you could tell he couldn't hold the accent at all.
