A person brought this to my attention earlier, I just had to share (and didn't see it anywhere but I've missed threads before).

I'm not expressing surprise at a mother coming to defend her child at all, but generally people grab something blunt, or pointy, or shooty, you get the idea. Woman is a badass, I guess part of me is shocked someone so attractive would stick their face so close to the business end of dog during an attack. She could have lost her face, or even her life if the dog had released and quickly latched onto her throat. Damn. Let's hear it for utter ferocity! I want to buy her a house.

Oh and she did right shoving her arm down throat. Pitbulls have been hit by bats shot and still wont let go - best way is choke them out. Give an arm like she did or give forearm and choke em out with other arm.

Anybody thinking it's the breed is a fucking idiot and you should be put down.

Any dog if not trained or if trained improperly (which in a lot cases would be pit bulls, mm wonder why lets see if any you fucking geniuses can figure that one out) will be more prone to attack.

Just no. Pits bulls will be more aggressive on average compared to other breeds. I'm really tired of people who say "they just needed to be better trained."

You think my pug whom I've tried to make aggressive (but failed miserably) is on par with a pit bull? Not fucking likely.

Trained? You should not have to train your dog to not attack kids. This is the kind of ignorance that has gotten more kids mauled and killed by that breed.

Breed is *by far* the strongest predictor of human attacks for a given random dog. We're talking like 2 orders of magnitude.

If 60% of car accidents involve a Pontiac Aztec, the fact you haven't had an accident in your Aztec has no bearing on the data on hand.

Then make it a felony with mandatory jail time if your dog attacks and seriously injures someone. If it's truly a matter of simply "training" your dog then you have nothing to worry about, correct? I think people with pit bulls are morons and don't want to be anywhere near them, but if you're convinced you simply must have such sweet dogs then I want you in PMITA prison if my child is hurt by your little angel.
 
What idiot would watch another's person guard dog and worse what idiot owner would drop his dog off like this. Pits, Dobies, GS, Rottie, and etc. These are not toy dogs you just pick up and drop off at someone's house. Everyone involved here was quite stupid. Let alone let the dog walk up to the child with no restraint.

This. Every week it seems like there is a dog mauling in Phoenix because some dipshit allows a toddler to get in proximity to a strange dog. Our dog is only 30 pounds, always leashed outside but we are very careful about allowing anyone to approach her without asking us first.

People like you are part of the problem when you blame the people who get mauled for 'approaching' the dog. If you own a pet that can't be trusted around people in routine circumstances like that then the dog should be put down and you put into jail. No fucking excuses - when was the last time you heard about a chihuahua or a cat mauling some toddler just because the kid 'approached' them?

Your just ignorant and quite stupid. There is reason there are different types of dog breeds. people have pet snakes, spiders, and piranha. People put forth common sense generally in these circumstances, so only a fool would not understand the differences in different types of dogs. They are are animals.

So if I were out in public with piranhas, or alligators, or a landmine that would maul anyone who approached, is that the fault of the person who approached or the person who owned the object in question? In short if you own an animal and it attacks someone absent extreme circumstances such as being severely provoked then you're at fault, period. And in the case that you own a dangerous animal, you should be criminally liable. Nothing a toddler does should provoke a dog to hurt the kid, absent supreme irresponsibility on the parents' part (wrapping the kid in meat or something).

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. It is the dog's owner and the woman's fault. To kill something off because its aggressive when its an animal is not the fault of the animal. Guard dogs are not toy puddles or lovable beagles. They have instincts that make them to the kind of dogs they are and you have to use certain precautions with them. Period. There is a reason the zoo tells you not to feed the zoo animals. I feel bad for this little girl and everyone involved, but the adults in this situation were careless.
 
She's one tough mother, but also the same mother who decided dog sitting for a friend's pit bull was a good idea with a small child in the house.

Her fight or flight instinct is top notch, but her higher-level reasoning skills aren't.

IF you were in public with a piranha i wouldn't give a shit. in fact that's rather silly.

but if you had a alligator, poison spider or snake etc. out and it attacked others then you would be at fault. only idiots bring deadly animals around other people..

i agree that if you aren't sure how your animal would react to kids running, people walking by etc then that animal should NOT be out be of the house.

You're a fucking retard and that is the ignorance that gets children hurt. Yes, you should train ALL dogs to be good with kids. Some need it more than others.

The only reason you hear about pit bulls so much is because of the stereotypical bullshit surrendering them. I've known way more little ass ankle biters that are way more fucking aggressive then pits, but who cares about them. They won't likely make the news.

But you just go ahead and be a dumbass for the rest of your life. Or grow a fucking brain and quit drinking the kool-aid.
