I cant believe none of you are putting any accountability on the fans... some guy threw a chair, others threw beers, one guy came on the court and threatened artest... I'm sure there will be suspensions, but I hope they press charges on those chumps that felt they needed to be a part of the game.
There definitely were a few fans who deserve to be punished as well. There's plenty of blame to go around to everyone.

The fans will most likely get fined but I think some fans will make lots of $$$ off the lawsuits. What's the details on the senior citizen? I hope he sues too.

The video doesn't really show this part,

As the crowd roared, drinks and debris showered the court and the Pacers players covered their heads as they hustled through the runway leading to the locker room.

A man in a Pistons jersey approached Artest on the court with fists raised, shouting at him. Artest punched him in the face, knocking the man to the floor before leaving the court. Artest was pulled away, and the fan charged back. O?Neal stepped in and punched the man.

This clip does.
Funny thing is, O'Neal rushed in and clocked the wrong guy!

I was watching the game live and I couldn't believe the fans had the close of access without any police intervention. Although Artest should have tried to restrain himself, the fan assaulted him. And the idiot who walked in front of the bench at the end of it all, who got punched by Artest and O'Neil had it coming.

The fans involved should be charged with assault, and Wallace and Artest should be suspended.

In the end, it was the fans who were most out of control. Hopefully no one got hurt too badly.

The videos on ESPN News definately show that. 2 fans ran on the court and yelled at Artest, he punched one while the other tried to tackle him... Jermaine came in and clocked one too.

That foul by Artest was a little hard, but nothing more than a hard foul. Wallace may have been emotional from losing his brother just a few days ago, and from losing the game.

I'm suprised that an athlete hasn't been killed yet. The fans have way too mush access to the pro players that I think it's scary. People act like animals anymore. Maybe our society is falling apart.

No, he raised his fist after Artest cold cocked him.

If a fan is on the court like that approaching a player, I don't blame him for expecting the worst there. The guy could have easily had a knife or anything.

Not saying all of it was right, but the fans clearly stepped over the line. pathetic.

But some of the fan's involvement was expected. If you see a big nba player laying the smack down on a wimpy looking kid, and you're feeling all gutsy, of course you'll leap in and try to shove him off.

Artest was defending himself when the guy approached him, but O'Neil was totally out of line. Artest was walking away and several people were holding the guy back/down when O'Neil sucker punches him. That should get him a vacation, if not jail time.

Shove him off the kid, sure. But pounding him in the face from behind?

One thing I noticed were the fans. Man, they were spilling drinks as the Pacers were going to the locker room. That's just pathetic.

Well... if your first shove didn't work and the guy is still pounding away, you gotta do what you gotta do to save the little man.

Ok, a bit of gossip....

A relative of mine owns a company that deals with the company that owns the pacers... deals with the pacers a lot.

And Artest has been called to the carpet quite often over the last few weeks flown into meetings with the NBA with threats of dropping him.

🙂

That's the thing. Artest was already pulled off the guy and away from the situation when he starts getting hit in the face from behind, by the guy who started the whole thing in the first place.

He has a guaranteed conract. They can't do anything (at least before this fight) without the players union on them like a dog.

Heck, when Vin Baker broke the rules of his agreement with the Celtics and lapsed back into drinking (he is/was an alcoholic), they still had to agree to pay a good portion of his contract as a buy out (they couldn't just cut him).
