Back in 2009, Wonderful Pistachios were attempting to gain marketshare and literally incentivizing anyone to buy their product. After cashback/coupon/rebate/sale, I was literally buying pound bags for .50 cents each at my local RiteAid. It took me nearly three years to deplete my entire 30lb stock.

Yet Blue Diamond also incentivized buying almonds during that timeframe and I still have many bags remaining. Guess I like almonds but absolutely love pistachios.

where was this? never heard or saw anything about this.

Slickdeals.com. Back in 2010 there was even a weird three-week long glitch in Riteaid's system. Buy certain items for $1 and out spit a $1 coupon. So it literally gave a neverending supply of free cans of Lays Stax, Hormel Chili, Progresso Soup etc. And few in my area even knew about it. I donated a lot to my local church, because I simply don't eat that stuff.

I would rather eat peanuts or cashews than these though.

Pistachios, cashews, and almonds. Now that is a proper mix. Probably really expensive though. :\

I don't know. My wife buys them every now and then at Sam's Club or wherever. Looks like it's ordinarily around $12. The cans are about the size of a normal can of peanuts, so not huge.

Pistachios used to be dyed bright red but now they're sticking with their natural color.

Iranian pistachios were. That was a differentiating factor people used back in the 70s-80s. I haven't seen a red pistachio since then.
