So much stupid denial in your post...

If repealing their health care was an issue, and it was a part of the republican platform because Obamacare actually edged health care in America a little towards how it is in the rest of first world countries, then yeah a large portion of the Canadian electorate would vote against Republicans.

You do not know what you are talking about yank.

Obama care is obscene. It is NOT universal health care at all, not even close. It is like our car insurance or the insurance we buy for our dogs and cats. That's how you treat your people.. yeah, it would have been worse under Romney, but not much.

It's all the other human rights included. And YEAH, HEATH CARE is a HUMAN RIGHT! (except in backward nations)

Read what I said again buddy...

It's better now than it was but by no means perfect.... not by a long shot.

Unfortunately universal health care would have been killed on sight in the U.S. Congress and President Obama gave up on the Public Option prematurely in my opinion.

Does the phrase "edged health care in America a little towards" even suggest that I think Obama care is equivalent to a universal health care system? Really? wow...

wtf man reading comprehension fail on your part.

Well I thought I did. I think you're saying that if a political party wanted to repeal our Canadian healthcare we would vote them out. True, but it's more than that, we wouldn't except Obama care either.

We have universal health care now, no insurance agents as middle men between us and our doctors skimming off 30% of the money. No medical bankruptcy either.

In fact, if anyone suggest this Obama care nonsense (much less your old pure insurance system) it would be political suicide in Canada.

That's exactly why the U.S. healthcare system is very inequitable.

Because even getting the minimal improvements in Obama care, compared to what it was before, was almost political suicide down here. The nonsense as you put it barely passed...

I think that's indicative that a lot of people in the U.S. willfully ignore the salient points about UHC systems and only pick out medical tragedies and try to act like those are the general outcomes in other countries

I am painfully aware of the ways Obamacare falls short compared to a Universal Health Care system.

Hillary Clinton. She was for it.. got shut down. Then got bought off (sicko). Corporations are people.. another thing that fortunately isn't.. .well, that relevant up here.

You Canadians have it lucky in that respect. Like Blankslate said, even edging the US ever so slightly towards UHC was a humongous battle, because a system like in Canada would mean that the healthcare insurance providers would die off, and they'll spend as much money as it takes to line the pocketbooks of congress for that to not happen. Even though many are technically "not for profit", they would rather keep the money and spend it internally than lower their costs for insurance. The US medical system is unbelievably screwed up right now compared to most other first world nations, just for the US to adapt an electronic medical record system has been decades in the making and still isn't complete yet.

My grandmother died pretty much due to a lack of communication between doctors regarding what medication she was taking, so I'm still bitter over the whole thing to say the least. Healthcare costs in the US have been spiraling out of control with no end in sight. The original version of Obamacare wasn't nearly so screwed up as what actually got passed (a complete monster of a bill with a ton of extra crap in it).

The completely ridiculous part is that UHC would benefit the vast majority of americans over the current system, but somehow people are manipulated into believing it's bad for them - it's one of the most bizarre aspects of american politics that I just can't wrap my brain around.
