So theoretically... If they offer movies for free download with the permission of the copyright owners, and you DON'T use their "software", why would it not be legal for you to download those movies?

Thats what I was thinking. Entrapment and Invasion of Privacy.

But then again, knowing the MPAA their army of lawyers either checked this out in advance or is standing by to settle quickly with all the counter suits.

JC people NO IT IS NOT ENTRAPMENT as they do not force you to download anything.

And, NO it is not illegal if you agree to their software that says it is going to send info back.

You guys do realize that all editions of Adobe Photoshop after CS send back to adobe info from your computer that tells them if you pirated it or not? That's why every pirate program will tell you to have a firewall and not allow Adobe Programs to contact the internet.

Guess what? Perfectly legal and it is explained in the TOS.
Offering Adobe Photoshop is legal. Because Adobe is selling it or one of their approved venues is selling it.

A female cop can NOT offer sex for money. She has to get you to make the offer, and you have to use the words "money" and "sex". Jesus Christ, its ENTRAPMENT!
A web site that OFFERS downloads in is serious danger of committing entrapment. JESUS CHRIST DO YOU UNDERSTAND!??

They are not asking people to share your illegal software with them. They are offering you an illegal product. Jesus Christ, its ENTRAPMENT!

Now, do you want to admit you arent a lawyer (or not a good one) or do you want to act like a big poo-poo face?

First of all you don't know the law. Entrapment does not even apply to the MPAA. Second no it is not illegal for them to do this. They are not forcing you to download anything. It can be considered the same as a sting. Many of those operations are offering illegal things and are perfectly legal by law, as the perp is not forced to go along.

Same with the bait cars in Pasadena CA, the cops can set em up, because no one is forcing them to steal the cars and meth in them.

You can't criticize him for not being a lawyer when you clearly aren't either.

What is with the anti-piracy attitude here? Must be all the IT/CS people chafing over the rampant software piracy. Either that or you all work for Lars Ulrich.
