Pippen or Malone going to LA?

I'm doubtful lakers would give bryant or shaq for ANYBODY. as it stands it looks like we might not be seeing horry, pargo, madsen, slava, samaki, and tracy next year.
horry is a great defender but he's past his prime. he also longs for returning to his hometown in houston. this will free up a good 2-3 mil a year.
pargo is a rookie who didn't get a chance to prove himself. not all his fault though. no reason to keep him either.
madsen is a joke. he has a few good games through the whole season and people love him because they can laugh at him.
slava shows great potential because he is a great shooter. if they can work him on his defense then he might be a good asset although the lakers have shown they are reluctant to play him.
tracy is a great spot up shooter but of course again lakers are reluctant to keep him like many other great shooters (glenn rice?).
samaki = nuff said. ZERO reason to keep this 2-3 million/yr bencher.

Really neither would be a good choice. Malone is a greedy bastard and under the illusion that he's still in his prime and should get payed money reflecting that. Pippen's detractor, imo, is that he's getting old and doesn't have much left in the tank. Not a good long term choice I would say. We'll see though.

As far as him trying to break up the rockets I'm not calling you a liar but I find that hard to belive. I didn't follow the rockets that close that year but I do know he didn't cause any poblems in Chicago and he's been the least trouble of all the disfunctional bastards on the Blazers roster. So out of a 15+ year career he only chose to be a touble maker one year? That seems a little odd. And even if it is true having issues one year out of all the years he's played isn't enough to qualify him as a cancer imo.
It wont' matter who they get...the Lakers are never going to be any better with a player that wants the ball or wants to score. The fact is, a good player can go to LA and become a role player where he is expected to perform when called on, but doesn't get called on much. You need guys that can make a big shot on occassion, play defensee, play hard, and rebound. A scorer on your team isn't gonna be happy and is just going to cause problems. Fact is, you will never be able to have a bunch of good supporting players like the Kings have or like the Mavs have because they don't want to go to LA. They know the team revolves around Shaq and Kobe and the only time your'e ever going to get a pass is if you get a rebound or Kobe is in trouble and dishes it to you. Hell, even Shaq wasn't getting the ball too much in this series. On top of it, you only get a few shots a game and if you miss Kobe won't pass it to you anymore. I don't know anyone that can get into the rythm of the game and really contribute under those circumstances.
Fact is, the players right now, Fox, Fischer, Horry, they're perfect because they're unselfish. They perform when called upon and play hard. They're veterans. Bring in anyone else you want, but it won't make a difference. The exception is a Jason Kidd where all he does is pass and sets things up. Anyone that demands the ball, or wants to contribute won't want to go to the Lakers and if they do, they won't like the situation.

being serious now, pippen is not the person to make the lakers a better team. he has injury problems and he is old. As everyone witnessed in the spurs series, the speed of SA was a huge problem for LA and bringing pippen over won't solve this problem.

Throw a Ginobli or a Tony Parker on the Lakers, and I bet they would be just as bad as Fischer or Horry or Fox. It's your team, not the supporting players. It makes people feel like they can't contribute. Kobe would rather throw up a terrible shot than get his teammates involved.

When he went to Houston, he was useless, not getting along with anyone there. Once he got to Portland, they kept his huge bloated salary because they were delusional to believe that he can infuse that team with veteran leadership, blah blah, but look wat happened to the jailblazers? Take a little perspective. They have won 3 championships in a row, prior to this year. This is obvious, but the way you make it sound, they will be in the lottery next year. If Horry hits the game winner in Game 5, the series would have been over. Almost everybody agrees on that. Horry had a horrible playoff run, Fox was out, George was hurt. How do you expect them to win with that many problems?
Don't kid yourself into thinking the Lakers are done. Kobe does take whack shots, but they are still the team to beat next year. Especially after they add a few pieces (backup to Shaq and a power forward). They will still get role players like they have now, and like Phil had when in Chicago.
is there any chance they can get Payton from the bucks? they desperately need some outside shooting and someone who can penetrate and dish. They have a 4.5 million exception that might entice a veteran PF for one year. So far Malone looks like the best out of the bunch? Oakley?

hes a crybaby whiner. he had to put up and shut up when jordan was in town because jordan brought him in and jordan would seriously beat down anyone who tried to get in the way of jordan's championships. in houston even barkley said that pippen didn't work or care. i imagine in portland that part of it is a) compared to the much of that team he looks like an angel and b) hes enough of a star (though hes never really shown that he is a star, imho) to get his way most of the time.
I'm not saying it's over for them. I'm just saying going after a Pippen or a Malone isn't the right answer. They need people that will play hard and perform when called upon. These players, no matter how good they would be on other teams, will always look like average players on the Lakers. You throw some of your players right now on other teams, and they'd be pretty good. I'm used to watching the Nuggets, and I'm sure Devean George, Rick Fox, Kareem Rush, and Medvedenko would be pretty good on our team. On your team, they're scapegoats.
THey are still the team to beat next year, I'll admit that. The answer to your problems isn't a Malone or a Pippen though. These guys will demand the ball, they won't fit into their expected roles.
Lakers can free up a lot of unnecessary people. Samaki (what a joke), Horry and Shaw (as much as I love them they are past their prime and aren't what the Lakers need anymore), Pargo (he's alright, but Rush has much more potential although he sucked more this year), Slava (guy can shoot, but he can't play defense no matter what), and Madsen (works hard, but sorry just doesn't fit the bill as a power forward).
No Malone and no Oakley please. Those fools are nothing but trouble. Lakers need a DEFENSIVE Power Forward (have enough inside offensive presence with a Shaq) and a Shooting guard. Someone that can somewaht create his own shot as well as hit the freakin jumper.

If you are a Laker fan and had control of the team for one day, would you trade Shaq for Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett? I would trade for Duncan because he is younger than Shaq, just as good a player (at a diff but still dominant position), and he is a class act. I might trade for Garnett for the same reasons as Duncan, but I think Duncan is better and would make the trade in a hearbeat.
Good players go to a team like the Kings because they know they get a chance to contribute and be part of something that's also theirs. Their good players pass and set up their teammates. They look for their teammates as well as themselves. Scoring is balanced. It's fun being on a team like that. They take good shots. Hell Bibby is benched for the whole 4th quarter in the last game and he's still cheering for his teammates. If he comes off the bench he's still in a position to contribute. If he misses he knows his 2 superstar teammates aren't going to be pissed at him. Everyone on that team knows that they're gonna get their shot, and if they mess up...so be it. On the Lakers if you miss your 1 shot, you aren't passed to again. Kobe then goes on and says you're not playing hard enough.
I think a Bobby Jackson would excel in a Lakers environment though.
A little off topic, but I feel kind of bad for AI. That cat does everything, tries to get his teammates involved, and they stand around and watch him. Eventually he's got to get a little help.

God what stupid statements. You know Horry missed the shot, but Kobe said whatever. He would pass it again if it was the same situation in the future.
Good players go to the Kings. Okay. Too bad none of them are GREAT. The problem with the Kings, Mavs, Spurs, Trail Blazers, is they had no single guy to go to for the clutch shot. They are too willing to pass, as they NEED a selfish player. Spurs still somewhat have this problem, as it has only been this latest game 6 when Duncan has stepped up, will he continue to do so? Will he actually TAKE OVER when necessary? For the Kings, Stojacavic is looking to become that person but I don't think he can create his own shot good enough. For the Mavs, Van Exel looks to become the man but the team still can't play defense. For the Trail Blazers, well they couldn't find anyone in Game 7. These teams don't have players in the clutch saying "GIVE ME THE DAMN BALL". Not just players that are willing to take the final shot, but players that WANT to take it.
