Pioneer VSX-D509S was marked Clearance for $199
Same as @ Fry's electronic...

Seem like a good deal???

Don't go with the Sony. Qualities not too good. Pioneer is ok. Check out some of the Onkyo's for a good receiver, though you will pay a little more.

Damn, damn, damn, damn. I bought the VSX-409D (or whatever it is) for $200 at Costco about two months ago. Excellent sound quality from the receiver though the remote is HORRIBLE, and the instruction manual could use some help. Worst aspect is that you cannot select speakers from the remote (between A and B). 509 is an upgraded version with some other features. I might have to check this out.

If you can print out the ad, Sears may pricematch it in their stores. Just 2 weeks ago, I had them pricematch this receiver against a web ad for $259. The remote is not too good, but plenty of ins and outs for most people. I especially like 2 optical and 1 coax digital inputs.

In my local store (Northern Colorado) it was $249 with the word Clearence above it yesterday, but today when I called they said that it is not on clearence, and that it is $329. It almost seem like they made a mistake and put the wrong one on clearence....

Went to the Apple Valley Store (MN) (BB) and was told that they HAD NOT stopped carring this model and were ecpecting a shipment tonight. No GO @ $329 I asked why Some Best Buys had cleranced them he said there "had been some rumors" He also told me they are never suposed to sell the floor model unless the last humber in the price is a zero. Thought that may be a nice nugget of info. he said when that last number is zero they are getting no more.
