I have been searching for a new set for a while. Missed the Mitsubishi Sears deal, so the best deal I have found so far is a closeout on the Mitsubishi 65411, 65" Gold Plus, for $2099 at Fry's in Dallas. I was in at Costco and found the Pioneer. It was rated high, and PriceScan lowest price is >$3K. I was really looking for a smaller set, but could not find a decent deal.

Which is better?

i have this exact pioneer set. love it.

it is great out of the box. also has 72 point focus adjustment if you want it. but it is naturally focused out of the box. so you don't have to do anything. 72 point vs. quad field? i think the choice is clear. and you can't compare pioneer with Mitsubishi. pioneer is know for its AV products. the virtual surround is so much better than my friends Sony HDTV.

i got this set about 6 months ago works perfect. i payed 2200 including 3 years exchange warranty from CompUSA. when it was selling out it's TV department.

you can find more info from www.HDTVoice.com

Get it if you want, it seems like a solid set. It seems to have a built in HDTV tuner but I dunno very much about the newer DVI crap...so I don't know if that makes the DVI irrelevant or just makes it non-upgradable in case they decide yet again to change the HDTV system.

Anyway personally I would get a DLP unit for the slimness but those are generally a lot more money so if this is your pricerange get this =)

You don't even give a clue what the item is in the thread title. "TV" would not have been hard to fit in.

How did you arrive at that opinion? I have a Pioneer Elite and nothing compares. If Mitsu makes TVs like cars, then I will stay away from them.

I did find a smaller set at the COMPUSA opening. They were out of the 47", but they had plenty of the Samsung HCM5525W 55" widescreen on sale for $1299. It did not appear to have the quality of the others.
