Pioneer Kuro PDP-5020FD Vs Samsung LN52A650

This is a tough decision for me, saw both of them at BB and neither really stood out, but both where being fed with BB garbage. The Samsung is a couple hundred bucks cheaper, while everyone raves about the Pioneer. This would be for a small condo, sitting maybe 6ft from the set.

thanks

Pioneer 5020, especially is you enjoy watching movies in low light. The Pioneer performs nicely in a well lit area, but in low light is really where it smashes the competition. The Samsung 650 is a nice set too, but I wouldn't take it over the Pioneer.

I would go with the Sammy, though depending what you use the TV for it isn't so cut and dry.

gaming, movied and sports. i dont really care what sd channels look like

HD movies? Either way, I would still stick with the Sammy with gaming and sports. Plasmas, especially Pioneers, are good for movies. That being said, the Sammy is no slouch for movies, especially HD (blurays). Gaming gives the nod to LCDs IMO, thus the Sammy.

I take it you haven't gamed on a Pioneer.

tough decision for you op, easy for most

the pioneer would blow any samsung, especially an lcd, out of the water

i wouldnt touch a samsung if you paid me

just pulled the trigger and got the kuro. this is my first big purchase for my new apt. reason why i bought it? the OVERWHELMING positive posts in pretty much all forums i went too, no one ever said anything bad about this set. plus the price was decent(1800ish with free shipping).

Just on an older Pioneer Elite. Maybe the quality has improved, but compared to Samsung's lineup, I give the nod to them for gaming.

If you had a 7G or older, MUCH improved. 😉

Good choice.

I've had my 5080 for a year, and absolutely LOVE it. I love it so much that I'm thinking about buying a 5020 just to have a second Kuro before they stop production.
