I ran into this deal while at my local Microcenter in Santa Clara, CA. They also have it online. I believe that this is one of the best DVD burners out there for backing up movies and games. Retail for one of these drives run about $400 or so. This is the retail package so it comes with all the software that you'll need, but is the same exact drive as the Pioneer DVR-104. Microcenter is carrying it for $349 - $50 MIR rebate, so you get the full retail package for $299 plus shipping and local tax.

Here is the link to the product:

Here is the rebate:
$50 Rebate

good luck.

Thanks for the tip, this is a good deal for the retail version. Do you know if it comes with any blank disks?

Does Microcenter PM? Royal Computers has it for $277.

If they do match, then $277-$50= $227 plus s/h & tax in CA. Something to look into.

This deal may or may not be dead at this time, but you might want to check it out.

Office Max has the Cendyne boxed version of the Pioneer DVR-A04 drive with a $50 rebate. Plus, you can use a cupon for $50 off $250.

I got mine last week for $300 - $50 cupon - $50 rebate = $200.

The only problem though is that it is not showing up on their web site right now. Last time it dissapeard for a few days and then came back, so you have to keep checking. The rebate is good through 5 October. This is their second $50 rebate that they gave. I missed the deal when they did this the first time, but as soon as that rebate expired, they came up with a new one (With a $50 price drop from $350 to $300).

The Cendyne version is the same as the Pioneer except for the software that comes with it.

Mine came with Nero5, WindDVD, UleadVideo Studio Version 5 (6 is the latest), Sonic MyDVD, and an Optidisk DVD-RW. I don't think the Pioneer boxed drive comes with nero.

One last thing, I bought some DVD-Rs and RWs through Meritline, and it seems that their branded Meritline DVD-RW is the exact same model as the Optidisk that came with the drive (Optidisk S101-08).

Just keep an eye out for this deal with officemax, they periodically get them in and out of stock on their web site.
