I have the 1600 and it rocks... so therefore, since the 1700 has a higher model number it must rock even more!!

I have the deh-1700

Good deck. My only complaint is that it was too powerful for my stock speakers and I turned the volume up too loud and the speakers are now messed up. Of course this is not a problem with the deck, but with my speakers.
It barely skips and the sound quality is pretty nice.

I believe I bought mine from CC or BB.

I had the 4700 for a few weeks. It was a very nice receiver and had a good display but it was awkward to use. A lot of the controls are hidden in the function buttons and it's not easy to change the disc play mode on the fly.
The other problem I had with it was the way random track worked. If you skip in the middle of a song, it goes to the next track and not the next random track. I've never seen anything with a random track function do that.
Ultimately I returned it and got an Alpine deck which I love.

I have the DEH-1600 too. Works fine, no complaints.

I would spend a little more and go for the Deh-2800mp

It plays mp3 disks
