Pioneer 108 and 109 Face plate

Right now i have a Pioneer 108 newegg is selling the newer 109 but only oem drives do you think there should be any problem with taking the retail late of my older 108 and putting it on the newer 109 without a problem the look like they are about the same size
 
I think you are confusing model numbers here...
Pioneer A08 = PRIMARY RETAIL PACKAGE MODEL with fancy shiny faceplate, honeycomb casing design, quiet drive utility, etc.
Pioneer 108 = BULK OEM MODEL, no fancy faceplate, no honeycomb casing, mostly sold in online shops, but a few retail packages can also be found.

The same naming convention holds true for the A09 / 109 models...
 
i have the pioneer ao8 retail with the nice face plate. Do you think i can get the pioneer 109(oem) and change the face plates
