Um, yeah, I know this probably a software issue (and not hardware), but I need help. I just hooked up my not-too-old old CD burner to my new system, and it's running in PIO mode rather than DMA. In the device manager in the systems applet I selected "DMA mode if available" as the transfer mode for my secondary IDE channel, but it stills registers the drive as PIO. Does DMA not apply to ATAPI drives or what? I have a feeling this is seriously slowing down my software installs, so plz help!!
