Pinnacle Studio 8 for a profit?!

picked this up at bb this afternoon, $60 out the door with three rebates:

pinnacle $20
bb $30

ok, now it's $10 ..., but wait, there's more!

pinnacle $30 "upgrade" rebate

if you've got any of the packages that are valid for the upgrade (including competitors products), then you should be able to make a $20 profit!

i don't think so. the two rebates are seperate forms, to different addresses, with different requirements (the bb rebate does not require proof of upgrade). time will tell ...

printed at the register. the two i can find on the web are the direct to pinnacle rebates. don't know where the $30 bb rebate came from but i ain't complaining!

fyi, i went for this 'cause of the price ($10 without the bb $30 rebate) and 'cause a friend recommended it. i already have ulead vs7. comparing the two, i'd say pinnacle is easier to use but ulead is more powerful - it gives you control over a lot of stuff that pinnacle automates. overall so far i think i like ulead better, but since it now crashes whenever i try to capture (didn't used to, no idea at all what changed) and since ulead tech support blows hugely, i may not be using it anymore. or i may use pinnacle to capture and ulead to make movies.

Do they count Nero 6 as a competitor. And if so what is the proof of purchase they are looking for. Do they require us to send the original CD

Bump for a great product!

I'm a complete novice, and I found Pinnacle Studio 8 to be perfect for home movie DVD creation. Very easy to learn and use.

Btw just that u know: a newer version of Studio is gonna be released within a month or two. It was supposed to be released in December, but has probably been delayed a little

yeah, i figured. still, a great deal even if you have to pay $10. i assume there will then be a good deal on the upgrade to the new version, especially for those who just bought the old.

proof of previous product is title page from owners manual of previous product. the list i posted above is complete, so i don't think nero counts - it's not really a competing product since neros movie software stinks!

Hmm..was looking online, and found a $20 and $30 rebate, but the $30 goes to Pinnacle and is the upgrade rebate..so I'm not sure what additional rebate you are seeing....

Great deal for a good editing software even though its a bit unstable.

Bit unstable ..... ha....

I bought it FAR in last year's black Friday @ Frys. I have been able to make only ONE Video CD so far. It just has nice menues but even after many updates to 8.10 it still does not work. Look some where else. Nero might be a better bet. :|

Confirmed in Massachusetts.

Just got back, 3 rebates ($30,$30,$20) all different offer numbers, no overlapping requirements that I can see.

The guy at the register was rather surprised...he seemed almost to not want to give me the rebate forms&receipt!!!!
