Compusa has Pinnacle PCTV Pro on sale for $69.99 -$20.00 Instant Rebate - $20.00 Mail in Rebate. Check the link online and it takes you to a $50.00 Mail in Rebate. I went to the B&M and it's a $50.00 Mail in Rebate as well. So it's:

$69.99
-$20.00 Instant Rebate
-$50.00 Mail in Rebate
----------
Free!

I didn't believe you until I actually clicked on the link to download the rebate and it popped up with a $50 rebate! Crazy.

Yes, we'd better be careful. Don't take the chance unless you really think at $ 29 it is acceptable..

<< how does this card work in XP? >>

great find..
i have a doubt tough. the rebate coupon says "rebate value will not exceed purchase price".. now i guess, our purchase price is "49.99" which is less than the rebate value.. 🙂 Are they gonna reject the rebates.. or they will send check of $49.99? or may be will the consider the purchase price as "49.99 + tax" > $50 (for ppl paying taxes)...
or may be i am missing something?
any thoughts..

Sweet~! 🙂

In stock @ my location thanks for the post ogn.

Awesome for FREE!

And thanks to AiRAzN23 for the driver update.

I have one and love mine, though I thank I may have to pick up another one, to put in another PC, wonder if I can find one instock?

<< have anyone of the last round pctv from cr@pusa deal received their $30 rebate ? >>

Yes, I did receive my $20. Here's the run-down: bought on 12/15/01, sent in rebate on 12/19/01, was notified the rebate was valid on 1/31/02 and check should be arriving on 3/29/02, check actually arrived on 3/12/02. So yes, they really suck in getting rebate checks out, but in the end I did manage to receive all my rebate checks from them - so far.

<< I have been wanting a tv card but all I have looked at are AIW Radeon 7500 or TV Wonder. How does this compare? >>

I have both, AIW Radeeon 7500 and the Pinnacle PCTV Pro. And I WILL get another Pinnacle tomorrow since it's free - now all my 3 computers are TV's too! Anyway, AIW Radeon is much better - software easy to install, better video quality, more TV related features, better remote control that is USB. And most important of all (at least to me), AIW Radeon captures images up to 720X480! So you could record DVD quality video if the PC is fast enough. But for casual TV viewing, Pinnacle is fine, and it also can be used with 3rd party driver and software.

<< I prefer Hauppauge myself. >>

Can that be had for $29? Assuming the $50 rebate never materializes for the Pinnacle.

i got in on the last deal with this card. it works fine in xp. the driver cd that came with it includes the latest version of the drivers and runs great in xp. the remote can be configured to control other apps such as windows media player and winamp. great for movies and music =)

I had lots of config problems with this using XP on a Compaq presario. Saw on a website somewhere that there are occasional issues with Compaqs and IBMs due to proprietory hardware conflicts, so I moved it over to a crummy old Emachines that I use as a server and it has worked fine ever since.

Also I recommend go get the latest driver (plus the patch and the beta patch from here - makes a big difference.

V40 XP drivers

401 Patch update

Beta patch link

Note these are FTP links - you may like to use an FTP client.

No recommendations that these will work for you guys, but they did the trick for me.

Edit - just noted AiRAzN23's driver patch post - we seem to have different beta patch references, not sure which is later . . . ymmv!!! 🙂 ) Zeeet.
