I get such a kick out of reading how all you young guys are discovering this "little known band" called "Pink Floyd."

Without Googling, can any of you name the best selling album of ALL TIME? Hint: it's got something to do with this thread. Dark Side of The Moon is the best selling album (or CD for those of you that have no frickin' idea what an "album" is) of all time. Yes, really. Go ahead an Google it. 😛

Pink Floyd has been around since 1967 or so. Their original lead singers' name was Syd Barrett and quite a few of their more popular songs are dedicated to/about him. 🙂

Floyd has been a big part of my life for many years now.

Until you have seen Laser Floyd while...um...under the influence, you have no idea what life is about. 😎

ps
That was many, many years ago....at the Hayden Planetarium. 🙂

Actually, I just heard that Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' is the best selling album of all time. DSOTM has been on the Billboard 200 longer than anything, though.

Actually, It goes:

The Eagles - Greatest Hits
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Led Zeppeling - IV

DSOTM is at the number 18 spot.

But yes, it holds the record for being on the Billboard 200 longer than any other.

Wow, I've been listening to Floyd since Jr. High. Mr. Waters and the boys got me through some real rough periods in my life.

Floyd is a music you just kinda have to feel. At my life's low point, I sat on my couch, stared at a blank wall (sober, just messed up mentally & emotionally), and listened to The Wall 10 straight times (the entire album). Four 2 liters of Coke, a half case of beer, 4 packs of Camel Lights....well, very cathartic.

Seems like very few bands do that anymore. Good bands/music kinda grabs the base of your spine and doesn't let go. Floyd was one of the masters of that.
