Pink Floyd

I've been listening to Floyd for a couple of years and finally burned a CD to listen to in the delivery car...along with some Zeppelin

Pink Floyd is great, but so broad a topic, really, to openly discuss coherently. I'll take a st@b at it by saying that you don't have a true appreciation of Pink Floyd until you listen to the Wall straight through. Do it at least once before you die 😉

Buy it. It's worth thirty bucks easy.
Those are both good albums, too, but the Wall is a different beast altogether. It coheres completely as a single song and story.
It's realy good stuff 😉
And good stuff is good.

Dark side is their best album...it is good beyond measure....in fact, it took 28 years for someone (Tool with Lateralus) to put out an album that can compare with DSOTM! Unsurprisingly, Tool admit being strongly influenced by PF.

A buddy of mine introduced to me to Pink Floyd a month or two ago. I still can't get over how good this stuff is.

Discuss.

That just sounds so wrong 😕

To me that is like saying that someone just heard about this great new food called pizza. Man, what happens when I really get old (no I am not REALLY old yet)? Wow I just heard you used to watch something called DVD's! What were they? 😀

I don't think you have a true appreciation for Floyd until you've gotten either DSOTM, Animals, WYWH or The Wall on vinyl and worn out a copy.

Here's a challenge for all Floyd fans: Get a local non-college radio station to play "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" as a request.

Dark Side is good too. Learning to fly. Loooove it😀

brain damage - it's all about brain damage and eclipse. I can never tell when one ends and the other begins, and I love it! 🙂

Those are all great, too, but the Wall is something that may only be fully appreciated when digested as a whole, imo.

THat's true, you HAVE to listen to the WHOLE album . Then you get the whole story

Na, been long time since I did that, but DAM it was a good night
😉

Pink Floyd always had a slightly blurry signature, like I was missing something while listening to it. It clears up whenever i get stoned and listen to it - it's really weird. I want to drop acid and listen to floyd, just to recreate the pink floyd experience (never tried acid)
It's total drug music 🙂

Just stick to the green son. It's better for you than that artificial S$#T😎

Now I need to dig out my turntable and get my vinyl Ummagumma album out 😎

One of the best concerts I ever saw. Bobby Dodd Stadium May 94.

Tool??? Haha! That's a good one!

Sorry but I don't think anything they ever put out could be in the same league as Pink Floyd.

Be Happy. You have the two best albums they made. The Wall comes a distnict third mainly because it feels dragged out and stretched in places. I used to own all their albums on vinyl but only have these 2 on CD for now. Shall collect the rest later.

Lateralus man. The structure is nearly identical to DSOTM. Take some rather common emotions/concepts, write great, meaningful lyrics, pair them up with some progressive, yet still great music, connect the songs to make the album a whole...and there you have it.

Music is totally different, but the basics are nearly identical.

I think we should wait another 25 or so years to see if Lateralus is still on the Billboard list... 😉
