I'm seriously thinking of going to london that weekend (friday is a satutory holiday and I can probably get the monday off) just to see them.

if I can get a decent-priced ticket (like 300-400) I think I might do that...

Lucky bastard :|

😉

The only lucky ones are UK residents :

Wonder if their performance will be released on DVD...I'd buy that in a heartbeat...

Live Aid was released last year so hopefully they'll be a bit quicker with Live 8!

I'm sure there'll be lots of vid-caps floating about til it's released, preferably in HD 😀

Just because tickets are initially available to UK only people, I'm sure there will be some available through scalpers. Just prepare to pay your first born to get them.

Shame there's no Concorde anymore, as they coulda done a quick supersonic flight from the UK to USA and played both concerts, similar to Phil Collins, Live Aid 85.

Unfortuantely that's just not going to happen on a Boeing.

Even if the concert featured the current Floyd w/o Waters, they'd still rock. Water's voice has gotten so rough over the last 20 years. Gilmour still plays and sounds like he has for the last 30 some years. Delicate Sound of Thunder is one of my all time favorites and by far my favorite live album and that's Floyd without Waters.

The last time I heard Roger Waters sound good was The Wall, and that was predominantly Roger Waters. But The Wall certainly isn't some of Pink Floyd's best work.

Actually I saw two shows during his "In the Flesh" tour, and I thought it all sounded great, two of the best concerts I've ever been to. I consider The Wall nothing less than pure brilliance, with Dark Side being the only album that I thoguht was better (although they were quite different, and not very comparable).

No doubt The Wall was pure brilliance... but it was a Roger Water's effort 99%. Did you know that Pink Floyd had pretty much disbanded prior to The Wall? Roger essentially wrote the whole "Wall" and "Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" at the same time. When finished, presented both projects to the rest of Floyd who chose the wall over the other (the other of course became Water's first "true" solo album.) By the time "The Final Cut" came around, which is essentially songs that either made the Wall film but not the album or didn't make either but was part of Roger Water's original storyboard, the band was completely gone. The only member other than Waters that was around for ANYTHING was Gilmour and he was only around for "Not Now John."

Of course, not to diminish ANYTHING Waters has done. The man is MASTERFUL at putting thoughts into words. IMHO Roger Waters alone, which would be most of "The Wall" and all of "Final Cut," is not Pink Floyd.

I personally feel "Dark Side" is over rated. If someone wants a true sampling of Pink Floyd's collective talent, they should look into "Wish You Were Here" or "Meddle." Although neither feature anything from original anchorman and long term inspiration Syd Barrett, most will find Syd a bit too "psychodelic" for their tastes. 😉 "Shine..." is pretty much about Syd Barrett, BTW.

all i can is the real thing was awesome ,for that was the best ive heard comfortably numb and wish u were here done live.
they were just amazing in fact the whole concert here in london was just amazing.
im just so glad i went it was a unique event and even the who were incredible so there you have it a bunch of 55+ year old blokes showing how to do a real live concert.
and thanks for the download ive been waiting all day over here for a channel to replay the event but no luck yet. and yes hearing that wish u were here again brought my hairs to stand on end .cant wait for floyd to go on the road again but in reality it might never happen because of the age factor however ,probaBLY THE ONLY BAND THAT COULD FILL UP HYDE PARK ON THERE OWN!!

Brian.. feeling numb but comfortably numb after it all..
