Pink Floyd, over rated?

I think PF is one of those bands everyone and their momma says they like and kicks ass when talking about old bands to sound cool. Yes I do like them and have a few of their albums(Echoes, Animals, Momentary Lapse of reasoning, The Wall, DSOTM, Pulse, Division Bell and Wish You Were Here). A lot of their tunes on most of their albums are just not that good imo. They have quite a few good ones don't get me wrong, but a lot of crap as well. What do you think?

Blashpemy I say! Pink Floyd broke some major ground back in the day and they still kick ass.

Without them, what would all the stoners listen to?

That being said, I love Floyd, but a lot of their earlier stuff I just don't get at all.

Your face is overrated!

But seriously, no, they are awesome and deserve most of the acclaim they've gotten.

DSotM is the greatest album ever. EVER.

And ummagumma live is the greatest shroom album ever.

They were talented and certainly broke new ground.
I still hate them with an undying passion, but I respect them.

The Wall cassette lived in the tape player in my old Prizm for months... and I can listen to DSoTM, WYWH, and Animals endlessly.

I've never been a fan. I tried to like them when I was younger but could never get into them.

I could not disagree more.

Pink Floyd was a phenomenol band. They were ground-breaking and their compositions still remain mind-blowing.

srs

listen to 'set the controls' in it's entirety.

They're good, but not the best ever. So I suppose if most people say they're the best ever, then yes they'd be overrated.

not as overrated as zeppelin or the doors

The Doors are insanely overrated. Never understood the appeal. Even though I do not like Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, I can sort of see why people might like them, not so with The Doors.

Music is subjective, there's nothing wrong with not liking them.

Personally, I think they're one of the most innovative bands ever and I enjoy listening to them very much.

Pink Floyd, pre-Pink Floyd, pre- Syd Barrett

But the OP is way wrong, PF has some of the best albums produced. The continuity of their albums, the way one song flows into another, is just amazing. I think The Wall, Animals and Wish You Were Here were the best at doing just that.

Ya, I fucking think oxygen is over rated. And obviously so did the OP's mom as he was certainly deprived of it at birth.

PF isnt overrated. Their songs are unique blend and their albums usually have a story written over the songs.

I think Wish You Were Here" is the best album.
