I'm gonna go down to the record store and buy me a Pink Floyd cd. Which one of these 4 should I get?

Animals is awesome if you like epic songs, the Wall if you want lots of songs, Dark Side if you want accessible songs, and Wish you were Here if you want a happy medium between the Wall and Dark Side. Animals is my favorite out of those 4, personally, but they are all excellent.

You could just download them first and see which like like best, then buy that.

Exactly, but for a new Pink Floyd fan, I would suggest in this order:
1. The Dark Side of the Moon
2. The Wall
3. Wish You Were Here
4. Animals

I like them all, but WYWH and Animals have very long songs (which are great) but could be intimidating. It took me a while to really like Animals because the songs where just too long.

Boot is short for bootleg as in a recording that was made at a live performance!

When we say we're taking our boots it means we're bringing these tapes.

I bought Wish You Were Here first on CD, but only because I had listened to all of PF's work first and knew what my favorite(s) were. Dark Side is best for throwing in when other people are around. WYWH is best enjoyed without being disturbed by people, TVs, or phone calls IMO.

I would say that Dark side of the Moon is the most listenable.

I've listened to every album they've ever made.

I'm a big fan of Barrett stuff....

No matter what people may say about artistic merit, dark side of the moon is quintessentially Floyd. It's got everything, a damn fine album, I used to program a skip of Time and listen to it as I fell asleep. :)
