Pink Floyd celebrate 40th anniversary with box set

Analog

Lifer
Pink Floyd have revealed full details of their 40th anniversary box set, now titled 'Oh By The Way'.

As previously reported, the box set will contain all of the band's studio albums, although it is now known that each CD will be housed in a mini faux-vinyl sleeve.

The original extras will also be included, but in miniature form, specially reworked by long-term designer Storm Thorgerson.

For example, 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' now comes with two posters and two stickers, while its follow-up, 'Wish You Were Here', comes with an exclusive postcard.

The artist has also designed a deluxe box to contain the CDs.

The albums and their extras included are as follows:

'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' (1967, single wallet)
'A Saucerful Of Secrets' (1968, single wallet)
'Music From The Film More' (1969, single wallet)
'Ummagumma' (1969, gatefold wallet, 2 discs)
'Atom Heart Mother' (1970, gatefold)
'Meddle' (1971, gatefold)
'Obscured By Clouds' (1972, single wallet with rounded corners)
'The Dark Side Of The Moon' (1973, gatefold wallet with 2 posters and 2 stickers)
'Wish You Were Here' (1975, single with liner, postcard and black shrinkwrap)
'Animals' (1977, gatefold)
'The Wall' (1979, gatefold, 2 discs)
'The Final Cut' (1983, single wallet)
'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' (1987, gatefold)
'The Division Bell' (1994, gatefold)

They banned discographies anyway, to prevent record label attention

True, they didn't stop individual albums but they couldn't stop you doing that or they'd have had nothing to share. I meant discographies in a torrent.

The Division Bell is the only one I don't have.

That's probably my favourite album 😀

I will forever regard you as odd 😛

Thankyou 🙂

It just works so well as an album 😉

Much like Animals, or DSoTM, or WYWH, or Piper, etc... 😛

I'm not arguing, but Division Bell is probably my favourite, the sound and the way the album works just do it for me 🙂

Strictly from an audiophile standpoint Division Bell is on par with Dark Side, as was Momentary. As a huge Floyd fan I was thrilled when those new albums came out, and of course the tour. I enjoyed the new albums at the time, but it seemed like a "different", perhaps more refined, studio enhanced version of Floyd. The tour changed that perspective. Hearing their old stuff just after/before a cut from the DB/Momentary I realized it blended perfectly.

I would pay $250 to see them again, but not for this box set.

Eh, see them live without Waters, listen to their old/new music together and tell me Gilmour wasn't the true musical genius of Flyod.
