Ping request - www.jeff7.com...thanks all. But geez, my DNS servers are SLOW!

I'd like for a few people to quick ping my site.
When you post, list if you were able to resolve the host to an IP address, and also your location.

I am switching hosting plans, and I kind of forgot a step in the process - update the DNS servers at my registrar. At least, I THINK that's what the problem is. It's been nearly a full day since I made the change; DNS changes usually don't take this long, at least they didn't when I set up other sites.

Well, it's the next day; it appears that just about everyone else can access my site, even overseas. But I still can't resolve the server to an IP address. What gives, are my ISP's DNS servers set to update maybe, yearly or maybe every 10 years???? Sheesh. Be nice to get e-mail again. And just have a site.:(

DNS servers in my experience have taken upwards of 2-3 days to FULLY update. Sit on it for a while. It'll change over soon.

Geez, where're all the west-coast people? I think that's where my registrar and web host are.

Cool, thanks. Darn. Was hoping it'd be working there.
Just did a trace on the DNS servers - Texas is where they are.

I'm in Texas :cool:

I got pings from about 180ms to 240ms...seems pretty high (I'm on some fast university connection, so I don't think it's me)

EDIT: So maybe it is me...other sites seem to be giving me high pings right now too (that usually aren't).

Australia????? The change traverses the Pacific before it makes it 2000 miles to Pennsylvania.

Either way, good to know that it was just the DNS setting, and not something serious.

Because a friend bought a 1 year hosting contract with Gisol, not realizing that he had a 2 year contract with his other host, so he offered me a good deal on the 1 year plan, so I took it. And they've worked out for me thus far, and they offer a helluva lot of bandwidth and storage space.
Nothing personal of course. :)
