Another option is the Odroid-C2. Quad 2.0ghz A53, 2GB Ram, gigabit ethernet, HEVC decoding. And odroid has probably the best community support of the rpi alternatives.

I also really dislike how the rpi 3 is still sharing binaries with the the first gen rpi. That means no 64-bit and it's still running code optimized for ARM6 rather than ARM8.

Interesting, unfortunately for me, it has no camera interface.

Also, the binaries are kept compatible to keep the old user written code base still working on the RPI 3 but be sure that the community will release an optimized version.

Just got my Kickstarter reward in the mail today. I think it was supposed to originally come in March but since I'm not psychotic I didn't show up at their offices and refuse to leave until I got my $22 board.

I got the 1 GB memory version with just a power adapter for an accessory. I was gonna get an LCD screen but decided to wait to see what was available/compatible with it later.

It looks like I can just put Android on an SD card and boot from that so I think I'll try that out later tonight.

I got mine, and I'm not too impressed with it. Unlike the Raspberry Pi, there is a lot of wasted space on the board.

The imaging tools for installing Android on the MicroSD card really suck, and I haven't found a stable Linux distribution for it yet.
