Pimp my desktop~

I used konfabulator for a while, but never needed the widgets enough to make the overhead worthwhile. Another similar program is Samurize (which I've never used).

Rainlendar - nice desktop calendar with plenty of user themes available
Lclock - Longhorn clock replacement....looks much better than the default XP clock in the taskbar

Wow, Lclock's pretty cool.

what's other program that's simular to rainmeter/samurize?
I had this program long time ago, it was very easy to configure
it was a bar with bunch of infos(sys, clock, weather, news, etc...)
I forgot the name....

I'Ve been using WallPaper Master for several weeks now:
http://jamesgart.com/wallpaperchanger/
It autochanges wallpaper on startup (also makes it much easier to manually switch your wallpaper by just clicking the icon in taskbar

And go find some nice wallpapers here:
http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/dbnew.shtml

I also vouch for rainlander, here's what my desktop looks like following all the advice I've said here:

Also if you're interested in making transparent windows, you could try glass2k:

Ok, you ready for some serious desktop pimpage son?

First up, LITESTEP. Litestep is a shell that replaces your explorer shell, giving you a near unlimited amount of configuration of the GUI that is your OS. With thousands of themes to choose from, you can easily find one that fits your needs, and they were all designed for a purpose, be that minimal menus or eye candy. You'll have to register for that website to get anything, but it's worth it. I've been using Litestep for a few years now, and I'll never use Explorer again.

Next up, you can try out check out Sysmetrix. This baby slices, dices, and tells you you are getting fat. It has all the information about your computer that you might need at any moment, plus it's completely customizable from graphics to functionality. There are many skins out there you can get for it too. There's even a litestep theme that has a matching sysmetrix skin 😛

For themes, skins, wallpapers, and anything else, find it all here. It's your one-stop shop for it all.

One other thing you could do is patch your uxtheme.dll and get visual styles, though if you use Litestep the only thing it will change are windows. Still worth it in my opinion. You can get the visual styles at Customize.org too.

I have used samurize for a while and I think it is great and it dont eat ram and resources like sysmetrix, you should give it a whirl(samurize) it is very simple to creat your own biuld and they are very handy, you can see a bunch of other desktop screenshots in This Thread here, I am sure you will like it.
