Has anyone tried running a PIII-S 1.4 512k cache processor with a Asus Cusl2 via the powerleap adapter???

I have used Tualatin Celerons with the PL adapter and BX boards with very satisfactory results.

Check PL's database - if your MB is listed with no issues, BUY it and TRY it. PL has an awesome 30-day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. PL's customer service is excellent even if their tech support is only fair.

Even though Powerleap adapters usually work as spec'd, I don't think they are worth the investment, especially if the motherboard you intend to use is part of a working machine. You should be able to get a decent motherboard for well under $200, and any machine worth taking apart to add the PL adapter and faster CPU is probably worth enough to sell to cover a lot of the difference in the price.

What is more important is that a new setup will probably include other current features, such as USB2, AGP-4, etc. and a BIOS with updates for the lastest software and interfaces.

Good luck. :)

I recently purchased an abit st-6 from newegg (refurb) for about $50. I'd bet you can find a similar deal without too much trouble. At a recent computer show here, I saw a number of tulatin motherboards for less than the cost of a powerleap.

I was lucky. I didn't reinstall windows, just swapped boards, and it works like a swiss watch.
