Hey, bclothie--

What part of the country do you live in? Here in Texas (at least, in the DFW area), we receive most of the stuff from Ingram Micro, and when I got mine through this deal, I think it came from somewhere in Northern California.

If you live in this area, I might go ahead and order from Onvia.com, since I know they also use Ingram Micro whenever they drop ship parts (they seem to always come from this area), and that might just get me a cB0 stepping chip!

Since Onvia discontinued my 650 Mhz slot 1 which I had backordered for a month, I ordered the 700 Mhz fcpga from them which is in stock. I will let you guys know if its cb0 in a few days.

BTW, the CSR let me reuse the $25 off coupon for the new chip. Final price will be less than $220 w/pointclick.

I live in central Illinois. Champaign-Urbana to be exact. The package came from Carol Stream, Illinois which is an Ingram-Micro distibution center. I know this because buy.com has sent me packages from here too. Very happy to get an SL45Y. Now just waiting on my motherboard (ASUS CUBX).

Perry,

I am originally from Arlington, Tx. Going to school here to finish my PhD in engineering. Wish I was back in Texas. The winters here are bitterly cold.

bclothie,

Yes they do get bitterly cold but hasn't been as bad as it used to get.

At any rate I'd love to hear how well that overclocks for you and your configuration. I was hoping for a 650e FCPGA to install in my MSI 6309 and bump the fsb to 133 but the 700's are looking attractive now. If you could give a report, I and I'm sure a few others would appreciate it whether it's here or the cpu forum.

-Capster (who works at that other college everyone forgets about or didn't know was in Champaign)

I got it today from GOOGLEGEAR (around $250 delivered 2day Fedex). I just tossed out the box, don't know where it was shipped from. It was for a client, but I decided to keep it for myself. It's running at 933mhz now on an Asus CUV4X. :D

I got mine Monday from C4Sure and I believe it is cb0. I have an Abit BX2 and upped the bus to 129 Mhz and I'm running at 903 Mhz very stable (I don't know anything about overclocking, I assume I'm doing it right?) HOw much more should I be able to get out of it if I get one of them fancy cpu fans?

Crazybubba,

Always push through Customer service. I ordered the same 650 slot 1 from On Via and after three weeks of backordered status, I asked what they were going to do. I had used the coupon for a $192 purchase.

He said they could check the 600MHz or 700MHz (Hmmm which to choose?)

Final outcome: 700MHz for $192.

Downside? CA2 stepping. oh well...EB average price is $225 from what I see!

Just curious, how bad is getting a "CA2 stepping"?? I mean, is it completely not overclockable or it's just "less" overclockable?? Thanks! :)

Tharpertx,

I wish I tried that. I just ordered the 700 Mhz flip chip at regular price minus $25. $192 would have been a great deal. I still rather have the slot 650 Mhz.

I hope i get the sl45y.

Perrytexan (?) got the CA2 up to 840, but I have not completed my attempts past 735. I need to tweak my board, but I will let you know what I get.

Still, not totally unclockable.

Got my cpu from ONVIA. Its cb0 (SL45Y) week 17 (5/18/00).

The only problem I have is that the slocket (ms6905) i ordered with it is now backordered. I can't even run it. :-(

The processor came from the PA warehouse.

Does anyone want to trade with me. I would like an unopened retail cbo Slot1 650 Mhz for this flip chip 700 Mhz cb0.

My local wholesale supplier told me prices are going up??????
He's always a little behind the rest of the world...

cisco--

You're neglecting the fact that ALL of the processors in the same price range you're talking about are OEM--no fan, etc., and the ones from Onvia.com & Computers4sure are RETAIL, and the shipping is FREE from Onvia.com & is rebated by Brandsforless.com, assuming you went through them before ordering.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--I wouldn't order ANYTHING from the snakes that list on Pricewatch!! They play that little "shipping & handling" charges game, and they have only OEM parts, generally speaking. As far as I'm concerned, Pricewatch.com is worthless.
