xanadulf,

I have the same Mobo from sucks.coN ( 6ABX2V Ver. 3.1), but I used a FCPGA coppermine in a slocket. there are two little sliding things on the outside of the retention mechanism (brackets). when I pulled them up, they locked the adapter and cpu in.

Here is a link for your mobo.

Hope this helps.

How long does Onvia take to ship stuff that's in stock? I ordered one of these Wed night and it hasn't shipped yet. Their web page says that in stock items should ship within 1-2 business days.

I just looked outside and a package from Onvia was sitting on my front porch! I still haven't received an email saying that it has shipped but it's here and it's also CB0 stepping. Hooray!!!! :D The chip was shipped from Newark, CA. The batch # is 7022A406 made in Philippines. I don't even have my new MB yet, so I'll have to buy one locally tomorrow.

Mine runs 1.80 in order to run 3d games stable. At 1.65 it could only do 2d and windows98se.

My Onvia purchase of the PIII667 133 did not indicate SCC2 in the description....I'm new to this, so, obviously the processor was not being secured by the slot1 supports. Onvia was very VERY accomodating and offered to replace mine with the PIII700 100 flip (for a few $$'s more) I agreed. But I needed to find the Host converter (they were out of stock).

I found this on COOLINGFAN.COM For $10.00 WILL THIS WORK??? and IS IT A GOOD ONE TO BUY????
PPGA Convertor
Full support for PIII Coppermine & Celeron PPGA processors using PGA370 socket
Support bus speed of 66MHZ/100 MHZ
PCB size: 5"x2.76"
Orders over $20.00 have free shipping, so I added these:

COOLING FAN ALARMAudio alarm is activated when DC fan is stop running or when its rpm is low, for all 40~90 mm DC fan with 4 Pin or 3Pin, Selective detect one fan & two fan per unit, for $5.00
and
FAN SPEED: 2400RPM AIR FLOW : 42CFM
NOISE : 26dBA CURRENT : 0.15A
PCI & ISA Slot.
BLOWERRegular price: $20.00Sale price: $10.00

Please advise on these Items as I am very new to this and I don't want to have any problems with my system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU ALL!!!

I'm somewhat dissapointed although I really have no right to be. I expected to be able to run this on my MSI 6309 at 143FSB, just like my 550E@787 using the standard cooling. Well, no go. It won't even post at that speed. It runs very stable at 133FSB (933) at 1.75 volts which is how I'm running it right now. I can get into Win98SE at 138FSB (Bios reports 1000Mhz which is very cool) but it'll crash when stressed. With some aftermarket cooling, this is probably the most I'm going to get.

You're right Flenn, you have no right to be :p

Isn't this the coolest running processor you've ever owned?

Considering the P3-1000's are almost impossible to find, I'm guessing they are having issues with the core that aren't heat related. Probably the reason they are releasing a new core for the higher speed cpus. 933 mhz ain't bad. Isn't your video card already the limiting factor? I know mine is.. wouldn't make much difference if I ran it at 800 mhz.

Leo,

I agree, at the speeds we're talking the limitations of the core are coming into play. Still, you just can't help wanting more ;).

The MSI uses VIA's 133A so both AGP and PCI buses are in spec regardless of FSB.

I'd be curious how everyone else is doing with their 700. Feel free to post results.

Hi, I'm a little late but...

FYI:
In case anyone is wondering... The deal, seems to still be on, cuz I just bought one today from Onvia and it still gave me the $25.00 coupon discount... Thought it was over at the end of the month after reading this thread...

Thanks for the headsup P.T.

Also to Brent for the coupon #!

I just recieved a chip from Newark, CA today and it was *NOT* cb0 stepping. It's an SL3T3 from the Philippines packaged on 03/31/00. Damn this thing is old. Off to E*Bay...

I just checked pointclick and it no longer gives 10% rebate for onvia. Verify before you purchase the chip.

Just so you don't think I am an idiot, I did read all the replys in this post and thanks to some great knowledge on PerryTexan's part I now have a better understanding of all this. As far as the processors I metioned these because I was thinking of just paying a bit extra and get the 800 and overclock that. Good idea or not? Worth the extra $150? Probably not.
As far as the Socket 1 or 370 question, I read PerryTexan's response but was wondering if there are any advantages to one over the other.

Thanks...

Also, it's the forth and both the coupon and the PointClick deal are still working.

Has anyone ordered thru McGlen? Their resellerrating is less than impressive, but their price seems good. Is the $16 or so cheaper price worth the chance?

Hi, dellwood1--

The reason this is a "Hot Deal", is not only because Onvia.com is a PointClick member, but also because you get a $25 coupon, it's a RETAIL processor (with HS/Fan & warranty) AND FREE shipping--something you WON'T get with McGlen, even if their price is a little lower for the Retail part. So, in answer to your quesiton, No, it isn't worth buying it from McGlen Micro, unless you want to pay a higher overall price, and pay for shipping.

"Thank you for your email. Onvia is not reimbursable, we apologize for this inconvenience. We do not have an estimated time when they will or if they will be back on the Pointclick Network. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us again. Have a great day.

Sincerely,

Hi, xanadfl--

While it may SEEM that they're not among the vendors at PointClick, they indeed still ARE, they just don't always have their name listed in the pulldown list. Several people have already stated this in numerous threads, so there is no threat that they won't honor a rebate, you just have to keep checking, and submit a rebate request at the appropriate time.

*****EDIT****

In light of the previous reply to this thread, I would have to say that they are NOT currently available, but I'm sure they will return, as they have always done so in the past. Originally, when I first posted this deal, it had to do with Computers4sure, and the $30 rebate & shipping rebates they had; someone posted in this threat about the Onvia.com deal, and so I changed the title to reflect the changes, at their suggestion. I still consider the Onvia.com deal to be the best overall, especially considering the $25 coupon (good through at least the end of today) and the free shipping (I've been fortunate enough to receive most of the products I ordered on the next day, even though it was shipped by UPS ground).

Onvia is definately one of the best companies on the net that I have had the pleasure of patronizing.
