PIII 700 @ 868 @ 1.6V completely stable!!

My system is:

PIII 700 @ 868
ASUS slotket with voltage reg. and big-ass 2 fan heatsink
ASUS P2B-F rev 1.00
128Mb IBM PC100 3-2-2 ram (Micron chips)
CL Riva TNT AGP (please, no drooling)
Canopus Pure3DII 12Mb
2x WD HD (one 7200rpm, one 5400)
Sb Live!

I originally set the slotket to 1.65V @ 700 for burn-in, but the BIOS showed 1.6V. I assumed the mobo can't supply 0.05V increments, so I left it at that. Then I upped the bus to 124MHz, and changed the slotket voltage to 1.7V, but BIOS still showed 1.6V.

So either I'm running at 868@1.6V (which is amazing), or at 1.7V and I don't know about it. I also tried 933@133, but failed to load Win2K. I suspect the RAM or voltage it at fault.

Hehe, you'll need to hit at least 933 before you have anyones attention.
Set your voltage in your bios, if possible and leave the slotket at defaults.

set yr micron module at 3-3-3.
for this module expect a max around the 140MHz (139MHz for mine).

exciting isn't it - but a bit too easy. no, i'm afraid you now have to start the long process of wrenching every friggin last mhz out of that rig, and that will not be quite so easy my friend.

me own 650E does 866 at def. voltage, and anymore, i barely can raise a finger in praise of the little sucker.

I got a few from Mcglen that take a little more juice than usual. I think there may be something to the phillipine chips.
Also, another friend told me that there are lots of OEM 700Es, going thru ATacom that won't dance....like 90% of that batch!!

124 FSB?

It would be interesting to see how well that system benchmarked at 115 FSB with your memory set at Cas 2 (if it did work at that speed). It WOULD probably be slower, but probably not by a huge margin for some benchmarks.

It's just that I dislike that FSB because the PCI might be running at over >41. (Not sure if you can run it at 31 on that board.)

Or else try for 133 - I think that board does run at PCI 33 at that speed even though it's so old. Up the voltage to 1.8.

P.S. I also have the no 0.05 increment problem, but 1.7 does work for me. Strangely enough if I set 1.65, I get 1.7, and if I set 1.75 I get I.8. However, with 1.65 and 1.75 every once in a while it doesn't boot.
