any suggestions on where to find the best price for this upgrade??????? im going from a 350 / PII , i have a motherboard from DFI , that will support this upgrade. Im looking for the best places to shop for this.
also, what do i need with the cpu , do i need to buy a new fan? i got a quote from a computer store up the street from my office and they said 245.00$ not including labor, this seems high to me. ive seen some of the chips im looking for online for 160.00$.

this is my first attempt at buying something for my computer on the internet, i dont want to buy the wrong thing or get my self in any jams where im dishing out 2,000 for a new system, i need new golf clubs first ! !;)

any help or suggestions would be appreciated.......thanks

Though I am not 100% sure, with your older motherboard you may only be able to use the older version of the P3-600 (Katmai), with 512k cache. I have the orginal Abit BX motherboard and am currently using that same P3-600, as it was the fastest chip I could get for the board. This chip topped out at 600Mhz and since it is no longer being made, may be on the pricey side compared to the new P3-600 coppermines.
