omg seriously what the hell is wrong with these people to think brown and mauve is an acceptable color coordination. it's about time they did something about it.

wait WHAT ?? $24.99 for a heatsink cover ?!?!?

I know it's crazy. I'd never buy one, but I bet they will sell a ton of them. I've seen so many people over the years want to buy Noctua fans, but wouldn't because of their color. Current PC enthusiasts color coordinate their PCs like decorating a house, while putting enough lights in them to rival 'the house' that always went over-the-top with Christmas decorations. ;)

I came from the time when motherboards looked like this, so for me all I care about is a balance of quietness and performance. :sunglasses:

When I think back to some of my old motherboards, I'd have to say the color scheme that describes them best is circus.

Although the brown color of the Noctua is generally disliked I believe it contributed to their strong brand recognition. Black fans get washed away in a sea of other black fans.

Very true. A person could tell it was a Noctua fan simply by the color. But in the age of cases made out of tempered glass and RGB everything, it was a business move Noctua had to make.

Yup. I like my NF-F12, but it got tossed in the parts bin when I switched to a tempered glass case.

I have the Fractal Design R5 with a window, and my two front fans and CPU fan are the brown Noctuas. My exhaust is a white Prolimatech fan. My video card has red RGBs on the logo. My motherboard has light blue RGB. My PC is a FrankenPC. ;)

That sounds like my last build but it didn't have a window so I never subjected the world to the horror show like you do.

only noctua coolers I own are low pro for HTPC... which aren't visible anyway so, eh. I've become a wicked snob as far as how my builds look, at least the higher end ones with LED lighting. all the other ones, SFF and server builds, I just use whatever. guess I've got a foot in both worlds.

I miss Gigabyte's blue mobos. I've gotten more picky in the last few years on colors but in the end I don't care as much about looks as cooling and noise. I've ended up with too much led/lighting junk in the parts bin over the years.

Gigabyte did have a nice blue. The Biostar blue I had before it wasn't as nice but the Nerf safety orange accents really looked great.

gigabyte has disappointed me .. they used to be cheap and powerful where it was important, and one of the first to put importance on high quality capacitors.
now they are expensive, and the features are spread out over a huge range so you need to pay for the high end mobo to get what you need. and they are using that HORRIBLE Killer NIC.
