Pigions. Why so friendly?

I was walkign around the city today and just had another random craqzy question that poppedi n my head. You know how you walk by them and most birds fly away but they dont care. Is this genetic as in they evolved and are born not to fear humans or is this a learned characteristic

learned. Pigeons are around humans all the time, and a lot of people feed them, so they learn that humans are not attackers and are actually a source of food.

They see humans as walking refrigerators. I don't run from my refrigerator. Well, not always.

I remember as recently as 10 years ago they would fly away if you came within 10 feet from them, especially if you were running fast.

Now I can get close enough to kick them and they won't budge.
