His show was pretty boring. I tried watching it a few times. Last time was about a year ago - seemed to have a hardon for gun control for the entire show.

I am serious.

It should be clear why nobody likes piers morgan talking about something he does not understand.

So, only US citizens can have opinions on issues facing the US? Last I knew you didn't have to be a citizen to enjoy things like freedom of speech in this country.

On Piers Morgan, I watched his interview with Jordan Belfort (Wolf of Wall Street) last week (I think it was a rebroadcast) and I thought it was pretty good.

If you had watched the show you would understand. Its a British guy lecturing us about the Constitution. Badly. Here's an example.

LMAO, what was piers response to that?

Yeah but so what? Why have every show be from the same US perspective? Don't you think you stand to learn something from having new perspectives? (and really, the UK perspective is one of the least different foreign perspectives you could have)

Apparently people generally agree with me since his show is canceled. I understand your point about other views but a cnn show is not the place for them.

This applies to almost everyone with a talk show on cable news channels.

not to the extent that piers does. i haven't watched his shows, only clips of it and it's extremely annoying. then he has the audacity to ask his guests to not speak over him when he's talking.

Sean Hannity basically yells the whole time, Bill O'Reilly is famous for cutting off people's microphones who say things he doesn't like, etc, etc.

All those shows are worthless and to single out Piers Morgan seems myopic.

Wouldn't you know it, takes a liberal progressive who has never seen his show to defend him.

I give everybody's show a chance, if only out of curiosity. I may not watch the entire show (might be a topic or question not worth 60 minutes etc) but I give them several attempts.

This guy wasn't a serious person. In a day and time where the average talking head seems unconcerned with any facts about the topic they plan for a show - this guy stood out.

Kinda reminded me of one of those morning shows where people sit around and talk about their 'feelings'. Very softball etc.

If not for his English accent he wouldn't have lasted thing this long, or even had a show to begin with.

No biggie, the world of OpEd is, for the most part, a revolving door. Few last long; we've seen many come and go. I don't see this changing.

Morgan is best suited for Print journalism in an environment which has a focus on one thing at a time... Like his former newspaper job in England. He's pretty good at that kind of stuff but TV... He's no good at it. He seems to have an agenda instead of letting his guests do the agenda end and he simply finding the questions to elicit further comments from the guests...

Who is defending him? I looked through the thread and I haven't seen anyone doing that.

Did you maybe mistake someone saying taking exception to someone making a blanket statement that non-US viewpoints were strange and bad as defending him? Did you maybe think that saying that virtually all cable news hosts are vile individuals as defending him?

This is all very confusing. Maybe you can clarify.

As far as people yelling over one another, there's been a change. I've seen it mentioned directly when a host is trying to get two guests to stop shouting over each other. The media has figured out the viewers don't like that. It hasn't disappeared, but IMO it's been noticeably toned down.

Bill O is, I think, is a rather arrogant prick often. But when he's cutting someone off it's usually because they're dodging the question and/or filibustering. If so, then it's valid to cut them off. Bill O has been around a long time (IIRC, he and Matthews are the longest lasting). He understands the time limits.

I never saw Morgan as controversial. My guess is has been let go for one simple reason: Ratings.

I just want to say: my issue with Piers was not simply because he was foreign.

I would watch a talk show hosted by Jeremy Clarkson. CNN, make it happen.

I saw this and I say good, his show was boring, he tries to drum up controversy like Rush and finally I find it odd having a foreign guy talk about US events.

Thats because you are a closed minded person.

It makes MORE sense to have foreigners look at a country. Objectivity is whats needed. Not nearly enough Americans have it.

For a while there the BBC made EXCELLENT documentaries on America. Then they got a taste of money, started sensationalizing, and it all went to shit.

Yes. If you don't like someone because they are a bad/boring host or whatever that's great. To say that non-US perspectives aren't a good thing is silly, however. Why not have a few? It's not like we have a shortage of US perspectives on our news channels.

I respectfully disagree.

You can not use your morals and values to judge another culture.

Piers does not / can not / will not understand our gun culture. He is a subject to the crown. It takes a free person to understand gun ownership.

Silly British. Doesn't he realize America was founded by people trying to get away from the oppressive type of Government wishes were in place?

Cool... I hope that they get rid of Fareed Zakaria's show next.

That said, I really want CNN to ditch the shows with liberal bias and try to stay in between MSNBC and the Fox News channels.

Hell... even CNBC has conservative bias now. Can't anyone try to do a neutral biased news source?

How that asshole kept his job after the plagiarism scandal is very telling of what a shithole CNN has became.

I just want to say: my issue with Piers was not simply because he was foreign.

I would watch a talk show hosted by Jeremy Clarkson. CNN, make it happen.

Especially if Clarkson gets to escort Piers off the property.

Just like in here, always irks me having people outside the U.S. arguing U.S. related stuff in here.

I especially despise British and Aussie accents on U.S. TV on a daily basis. Once in a while is tolerable but not on an every day in your face.

Yes, I can't stand that stupid gecko from GEICO. Makes me want to punch an Aussie...but then I realize I will get my ass kicked. But I still don't like the gecko.
