Piece of Crap Lite-On

I've had a Lite-On LTN483S 48x Cd-rom that I've had for about 3 or 4 years now. I've been having trouble copying cd-to-cd audio tracks for quite a while now. Well it finally pissed me off to the point where i couldnt take it anymore, and i found out that this particular cd-rom doesn't extract the last two seconds of a cd track correctly.

Basically this means that I can't copy an audio cd unless i want to deal with having the last few seconds of each track messed up. The only workaround is extracting all of the tracks to mp3 and THEN burning the mp3's rather than copying cd-to-cd directly.

I'm fed up with this, and I can't seem to find any firmware updates that are available. If you have this problem and know how to fix it PLEASE let me know....

3 or 4 years old? I would say that it has lived its life, throw it out and buy a new one, the new Lite-On drives are very nice and only about $20-$25.

I hate to say it but you may be right... it seems there's nothing else I can do. I was hoping the darn thing would last me a little longer, but that doesn't seem to be the case:/

No, like I said in my earlier post I can't seem to find any available firmware updates. I think I'm just going to give in and shell out 20 bucks in order to buy me a new one. Thanks for the help though.

Phillips.....better quality than lite-on....riiiigggghhhht....Teac I have never used.....LG are equivalent in quality to Lite-ON IMO......

It is quite old though....maybe Lite-ON just weren't as good back then....

Philips is a top end brand... they make quality stuff... not all average people see Philips' high end line.. but they are very good...

i CAN post links if you force me to... 😀
Teac makes good drives too.. and LG arguably is equivalent.. but in my findings... i think they are alot better... Lite-On I have had in the past is garbage... just like their cheesy sounding name.

My only gripe with LiteOn is how loud they are. I had a 40x burner, and it was annoyingly loud. I replaced it with a 48x Sony and I can barely hear it.

LOL, the 48x Sony is a rebadged Lite-on
