Dogs only seem smarter because they do what you tell them, they are dependent on humans, and need alot (and i mean ALOT) of care. Cats are self-sufficient, do not rely on humans (for much), and you can't tell one what to do because cats have their own minds. They decide what they need, and when they need it.

Just saw "my wife's adorable" neighborhood cat outside, on the patio. It's not ours, but one of two who are probably abandoned brother & sister. My wife pets 'em once in a while, and says, "Aw, look at that widdle face... awwww." :roll:

Well, a couple minutes ago, that coot, widdle face was stuffed with the cute little neighborhood chipmonk, who lived under our steps. These cats... er... cute kitties have been staulking that chipmonk for weeks. I knew they'd get it sooner or later. Wish my wife could have seen it. I told my son to look, and he saw it, but missed the fact that it was still alive! I saw it squirm a bit just before it took off. Just adorable!
