Does anyone know of a good program to create a slideshow with music background? I have Nero and Jasic photo programs but I can?t get them to work the way I want. I have around 80 pictures and want to attach more than one soundtrack, to last the length of the slide show. Then I want to burn to a CD and have the slideshow autorun.

Any help is appreciated.

Use a free audio editor to combine the songs into a single track. Audacity works great.

Then, use the free windows movie maker 2 to set your pictures to it. There is actually an option to automatically match your pictures to the soundtrack.

As for the autorun feature, that can be done by writing a file to the CD, but you will need to do some research on that.

I hope this helps.

I've created DVD slide shows this way and it works great. Make sure that you use a high quality, standard (AVI) video format when you output the video so that your CD/DVD burning program can convert it as needed.

TSDible, thanks for the help. I have seen this program in windows before and never paid attention to it. Well It works pretty good. I was able to import more than one sound clip and it has some other neat features, I just need to figure out how to make the video run without windows media player. I want to be able to give the CD to anyone and let them run on their own DVD player or computer.

Any other Ideas Appreciated.

Thanks

Then do as I said...

Export the video to AVI format.

Then, use your burning program to create a "Video CD" or "VCD"

It should automatically convert the avi and then play in DVD players that can read CD-R media and should also automatically open in a computer.

This is by no means the highest quality way of doing this, but it does very well in a pinch.

I hope that helps.

Also, for creating a VCD/DVD and tons of other useful information, try

For a commercial solution, there's also http://www.picturetotv.com/. Free evaluation copy that watermarks the produced file, but the retail is ~$50. Great for slideshows if you want to do pans or zooms or such effects.

Another thought just came to mind...

If you like the way the Windows Movie maker works, consider the Plus! addin for XP.

It has a program that is specifically for creating photo stories. It allows you to do all kinds of stuff.

They even have an example posted on this page

Photo Story

Just found this link from that page

More examples here

The "Friends Look Back" example is a good example of how you can add "motion" to still photos.

I'm actually considering it now...

if you make the video file with windows movie maker can't you burn it straight to the cd with an autorun.inf file pointing to it?
example autorun.inf, try changing autorun.exe to whatever the name of the movie file is

Trek, I guess you could make an autorun file, but the Windows Movie maker program saves the movie in Media Player format so when you execute the program Windows Media Player plays the movie back. I want to be able to burn the CD so it can be view full screen on any DVD player.

Thanks for all the replys.

oh, ok. Missed seeing you mention that :)
edit: you can put DVD content on regular cd's too that should play in DVD players. Guides here.
