Picture scanning

I have a ton of old pictures and want to scan them and eventually, after grouping them make a slide show of them. I have a flat bed scanner. Does any one have a process for doing this or should I look into a sheet fed scanner?

Any ideas appreciated.

Been there - done that. I use the scanware that comes with the scanner - create JPG files, then place those into a slide show with anitmation, music and transitions. It is not hard - just requires some thought and planning.

Some programs such as Corel PhotoAlbum 6 and PaintShopPro X will acquire directly from the scanner via TWAIN.

Yea, I have some good software for doing the animation but was just wondering how to cut the scan time and file conversion to jpg. Looks like a good winter project.

Thanks for the reply.
