The photo is fake. On the faucet there is an aerator on it. Water doesn't come out of a faucet like that with one on.

Aerators are very easy to remove. What troubles me is, that at the speed requiered to stop the splash, you should be seeing articulated drops in the main stream falling. Could be double exposure, low speed shot of the main stream and a high speed shot of the splash. I think it would be quicker and easier to capture these with a camera, rather then software.

Fast film with mineral oil insted of water being used. :D

I've played with those kinds of pics. Not that nicely, but can be done.

My guess is that it's not liquid at all. I didn't take much studio/product photography classes in college, but the classes that I did take, it's fairly common for plastic/acrylic like substances to be used. (I.E, fake ice cubes, food, etc)

It's not photoshop. Maya or Lightwave maybe, but not photoshop.

Agreed.

damn right. The day adobe can pull that off will be the day i leave the pickles on a cheeseburger

lol! i hate those damned pickles too :| Thank God for "have it your way"

On a related note I was shocked one day when on a trip to San Jose I stopped at a McDonalds on 580 and discovered that 39¢ Cheesburger Sunday did not apply if you asked for anything special on your burger. :| It's the only place I've ever seen that happen.

Anyway, my bet is that it's actually a plastic mold, not water. The refraction of the image through the "water" is consistent with a clear plastic.
