Dogs and cats are great animals. Personally though, I am not around a whole lot. I am in school for the day so I wanted animals that would be happy by themselves. That pretty much ruled out dogs. I also live in an apartment so cats are the perfect pet. I also have a ball python.

Cats have a brain of their own, dogs are like mindless retards that jump at the first move you make or sound you make. They do whatever strikes their fancy at the moment, whether it's sniffing a skunk's a$$(and coming back smelling really bad), or diving head first into a mud hole.

My cats love attention. They like to cuddle with me and my girlfriend. They sleep with us every night. Only thing that is bad is the fact they wake up at 6:30am and start playing which wakes me up.
