Actually it is a AGP Pro slot

Probally for PRO150 which supplies 150watt through the AGP slot.

In the infamous words of jake (for those booty call fans) HELLZ NO. I dont think that card would even fit in my case. Do you need a batter backup just for the card? Didnt they say that the voodoo 5 6000 with 4 processors would need an external ac adpater? I don't think I would ever buy a card that couldn't run off my computers power supply.
BTW: anyone have a link to the article instead of just the pic?

duh...it's not meant for people like you and me. It's meant to fit in big server racks.

here's the "Article" for you...

<< You just THOUGHT the Voodoo 5series of cards were monsters. Check out what Bubba pulled out of his pants at Comdex. I ran like a scared child. Of course Bubba is used to that.

These are actually pictures of an EIGHT WAY SLI VSA-100 chipset board built by Obsidian. There were tissues and lotion presented with the card. Thanks to Andy Brown for letting me gank on his pics.
>>

I'm happy to see they did the smart thing and had the complimentary tissue and lotion...an obvious requirement when presenting something like this.

Actually this isn't a card for 3D professionals in a traditional sense, it's for people needing fillrate to the extreme. I'm thinking ultra-high resolution realtime 3D graphics - simulations for example.

Sweet jesus is that card ugly! I have a hard enough time cooling my P3 with a bigass Alpha thank you very much. What ever happened to "a single all powerful chip"? Cripes, imagine if Nvidia busted out with a GTS Ultra X4 :Q

I think that's what he meant Noxipoo. Anyway, that is one big mutha!
Do they have to make a new zip code for each one they build? It sure looks like its forebearer, the Quantum V2 SLI on one board, the X24 I think it was. I remember reading about it in a review of a Falcon Mach5 system when I still had a single Diamond Monster II Voodoo2 12mb and drooling.

Look on the bright side. If your heater ever goes out, all you have to do is fire up the computer and use it as a space heater. :)

by server rack I just meant a huge f*ckin' case! It would only be used by something like a military simulation or some type of machine for 3d animation/design. No way in hell those guys will be using mid-towers.

and WHY do some of you still complain about the size? WHO GIVES A RATS ASS?! This thing is sweet, just admit it! And the people who will be using it I'm sure could care less about it's size, heat and power consumption.

Sweet :) Lets see...

Standard 32Bit PCI Slot connector
8 VSA-100 Chips
I counted 32 memory modules (4MB) = 128MB (!!!)
Reinforced Backside support "rails" (strange ;)..)
External PS (100/125W ?)

this is quite a useless thread, do you honestly think anyone here will run an application on a P4 that will be affected by a bug? No, they are probably so insanely small, you wont even notice that 8.90374627632E-14 * 7.23475684736E-765 Is off by one one billionth of a percent of a tenth of whatever.

If it runs windows, its good enough for you.

I'm pretty sure that card is for a "stand alone" arcade system (hence the spacers and huge size)... damned impressive tho. Probably pretty expensive too, I'd guess $1500-2000 (at least). :Q Arcade systems are getting more and more modular (due to complexity and expense), I even remember seeing an article about some being built on a heavily modified "PC" platform running a custom version of Linux. This line of reasoning would make a lot of sense considering that card is definitely PCI.

Of course, it could also be a special Professional 3D rendering card for Intergraph (or some other CAD/CAM system maker), for use in Aerospace design and such.

Would be neat to see some Q3A benches at 1600x1280 on that thing (if they even have Win drivers for it). hehehe
