PICTARS! OMG More Butterflies!

Nice shots. Where did you take them? Natural light or did you use a strobe?

The butterfly shots were taken in the Butterfly Conservatory next to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. All were natural light and handheld; I was on a bus tour and I hadn't brought my macro lens, flash, and tripod, thinking I wouldn't need them... so I made do with my 50mm f/1.8 + extension tubes + ISO1600.

Where are your aquarium pictars?

oh man, those butterflies are weird! Very very nice pics though.

<3 your cat.

Not my kitty actually. I was getting my car fixed for something and the garage had a box of kitties. I wish I coulda taken one, but I go on too many trips and that kind of lifestlye isn't really conducive to pets 🙁

I think this is my fav though from my trip

Yay! Jellies are SOOO hard to get sharp and detailed. The jelly tanks are always so dark to accentuate their colors, they move pretty fast, and you can't use a flash on them because it'll kill their natural colors. My mind's not flexible/abstract enough to just say "screw it" and take a purposefully motion-blurred picture. 🙁

What's a budget bucket?

The 30/1.4EX

Why's it called the budget bucket?

I love it! It's soooo sharp and bright. It's more or less my walk around lens. Yay!

Although a lot of people do have focusing issues with it...

A good copy is supposed to have the image quality of the 35L at about a third the price.

Sounds like a deal to me 🙂

Yup yup! I got mine used but in mint condition for $300. It's probably the sharpest lens that I have, even at f/16, it's minimum aperture. The second sharpest would probably be the Tamron 180mm, and the third is the 50mm f/1.8.
