I guess I'm just not a classic car person, well probably not a car person at all. Good for you/your brother though.

Once you give it some lovin' it's going to be one sweet car

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it? Also, any idea how much a restoration going to cost you and if you are going to do it yourself.

The price we paid for the car was $4000. The guy originally wanted $12,000 but only 3 old people wanted to buy it off him. My brother seen it sitting in front of the guys shop and stopped and started looking at it. Immediately seeing this the owner came out and said "you interested, its 12 grand". My brother is like I am interested but I cannot afford 12 grand. The guy said ok how much can you do, my brother responds "Maybe 6 G's" He goes ok I can do that, but only because he doesnt want to sell it to some old guy (he was old him self). 2 months passed and he calls my brother and asks if he has the money yet, my brother said I cannot do it anymore, I wasnt able to raise all, and he asked how much he had, my brother said 4g's. The guy says sorry and hangs up the phone. So we thought ok we're not getting it. 2 days later he calls up my brother and says ok fine I can do 4g, I really dont want it to go to some old guy, and then it was history.

Currently we got an estimate (to fix up the minor body work needed, and interior, with a new paint job and rechroming outside) comes to about $8G's. We have no quote on the engine work needed yet.

Nice car! Hope you keep it and make something nice out of it - cars like that are always worth it.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but here are some pics of our 64 Polara that we turned into a "Pro-Tourer":

We rebuilt the engine and had it dynoed - with some goodies thrown in for extra measure. It will run on 89 octane gas BTW. Also threw in a coil-over front suspension with four wheel disc brakes (4 piston Wilwoods up front). Also just installed a Tremec TKO-600 5spd transmission last week. Still have to put in a Firmfeel rear swaybar, Dynomat the interior, install a sound system, with possible future upgrades to include HID lamps and aftermarket A/C.

You can bet that with that kind of power we're going to install seatbelts. Especially since cars back then didn't have "crumple zones" or collapsible steering columns. You'd have a better chance of surviving a crash in a Honda Civic than a 64 Dodge.

WOW very nicely done! Just curious how much did it cost for the engine work roughly? Did you do it yourself or a mechanic?

I had the an engine builder do it, then we tuned it on the dyno. Figure six grand into the rebuild, then things like carb, intake, headers (those were $800 alone).

All told, we have over 25K into the car as it is.
