(pics) So we caught a chipmunk outside our house...

My moms been getting pissy about some wild animal digging holes in her garden, so my dad goes out to buy a little animal trap.

A week later, we caught this (pic2).

The dilemma now is what to do with it.
I don't wanna just kill the thing, and I can't exactly let it loose.
Even if I let it loose far away, it'll probably find it's way back to my house 😛

We've been feeding it peanuts and cashews and giving it water from the hose.
Think we can house train it? 😉

Simple. Drive several miles away to a school/open field/park and let him go. He'll pretty much set up shop wherever you drop him off. Chipmunks don't have any kind of "homing" instinct or anything so the odds are he won't find his way back to your house. 😉

Call your city's animal control department and see what they have to say.

I got FIVE squirrels out of my attic with their assistance. They lent me the trap and took the animals away.

I've been told that squirrels can indeed find their way back from several miles away. Don't know if the same holds for chipmunks.

Mmm mmm...finger lickin' good! 😉

Okay, I don't really think that.

Being the foolish preson that I am, I'd probably try to keep it for a pet and end up dying from rabies or something.

That's what I would do, relocate the chipmunk. Just make sure it doesn't bite you in case it's carrying a disease or two.

you can't see it in the pics! its just a lump of fur!

i don't know if i've ever seen a chipmunk. tons of squirrels. which will come up to you and steal your food. but not a chipmunk.

Ive never seen a chimpunk either. I mean, other than Chip and Dale.

Though I will say that Squirrel is rather tasty.

It's not bad. I've only had it as a component of Brunswick stew tho.

I believe that they will find their way back if they don't get killed in the process...

My father drives them to a local school and lets them out in some woods because he won't kill them.

His neighbor submerges the cage in a bucket of water to drown them.

hehe my cousin and i caught the same chipmunk about 7 times in a row using a box proped up with a fork. good times

<baby talk>awwww... how could you drown a nice little fuzzy like that? hes soooo cute</baby talk>

drive it over to an open area and let it off there.
