[PICS!!] SATA HardDrive --> IDE Motherboard ???

edro

So I got a SATA Hard Drive for a really good deal, but I want to put it in my file server, which is IDE only (older motherboard).

All the converters I see convert the IDE HardDrive to SATA. (At least that's how the pictures show it)

Can I use the same adapter, but plug it into my motherboard, then plug the SATA Hard Drive into that?

All the pics I see, show the adapter on the HardDrive itself... I wanna go the other way.

THANKS!@

Edit: I found this... I wonder if that is any different than the cheaper Hard Drive ones?
Here is one of the Hard Drive ones...

Why not just get a PCI SATA controller. That would be the cheapest and best solution. Here is a decent one: Linkage . I'm not sure if any SATA cables are included as they show none in the picture. Be sure to check with newegg about that so you can order some at the same time if necesary.
. If you aren't going to use any regular IDE drives (or only really need one channel besides the SATA), you can disable one or both of the IDE channels in the BIOS if you want, to free up an IRQ or two.

. And no, the drive converters only work on the drive end of the cable.

It says it can transfer at 150MB/sec, but the IDE connector can probably only do 133MB/sec max.. THE LIARS!

But yeah, PCI configuration is probably your best bet, but this doesn't look like a bad product at all.
