Opps, my bad, maybe the black one is current, just looked like vintage model from the rear from a second, The midnight blue with the stripes and the red appeared to be the more modern design, also I noticed the Steeda Modified Cobra and also the 01 Cobra R...kinda surprised a Saleen didn't show up as well...

Very nice looking car, cannot wait to see one in person.

The official word has been sub $150,000, but my guess would be not TOO much below $150K.

Correct. Keep in mind the car will have 500 bhp and should be able to dust, say, a 360 Modena while costing less.

Yes, & a Viper can dust the Modena for even less.

But everybody knows that a Viper is nowhere near the league of a Modena. The GT40 may be closer (due only to it's heritage), but IMHO the prancing horse far outclasses the blue oval.

I can understand your perspective on that, though I respectfully disagree. The GT40 is a truly special part of racing history, and its success was more or less unique. The new Ford GT is the first modern supercar by a major US manufacturer, and will be assembled in very limited numbers. I imagine its build quality and QC will be better than Ferrari's, and, as much as I love the 360, it has no bona fide stylistic or mechanical resemblence to any of Ferrari's historically important racing cars. I would love to have a 360, but other things being equal I think the GT is a more special car and will probably have greater collectability down the road.
 
These are destined to be collectors items 🙁. I can't imagine ford making a lot of them and the ones they do make will sell like hotcakes (I'm betting some dealers get 200 large for them).

I'd drive one of these in a heartbeat, they are right on par with anything ferrari makes in my eye.
 
My dad is good friends with a guy that has about 7 old cars including a GT40 Mark IV that was owned by Edsil Ford(sp?) and an original 427 Cobra. We had a race with the Cobra and a Viper, I was in the viper and my brother was in the Cobra. We hit about 85 in the 45. Not a big race but still fun. 😀

That's a stupid large amount for a production line car ...

Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't the GT40 "just" have the motor from the Cobra R, but weighs like 1,000 pounds less? *EDIT* I read: 500 horsies! Viper-killer?

The car is a beaut. If it can meet or exceed the performance of a Z04 Vette, the Vette be dead AFA as the new American Sportscar.

This ass is better than Jennifer Lopez'!
 
What I think should be done with the headlights is the interior should be spiced up a bit, like Nissan did with their 2002 Maxima's headlights (Vs the old 2k and 2k1 lights). Keep the original shape, but add projectors, etc. I wish the dash was as good looking as the damned center console (although that would border on a guady look). It needs a more modern dash layout, with newer styled guages.

I can't believe you guys are looking at this car and the thing that's most interesting about it to you is the headlights. If you're even thinking about the headlights, you're obviously not in the target market for this car.

Um, notfred - I'll bet that 75% of the people in this thread couldn't AFFORD to purchase just the headlight off the GT40, much less the car 🙂

Yep 🙂 If anything, you'd think they'd bring a Q400 or something track worthy. Of course we don't know what that Steeda in the pics can do/has been done to it, but odd that they'd bring a Cobra R and a "random" car
 
Great car, although the aluminum stuff in the center of the interior really sucks. Looks like a placeholder or something.
