my bad - it's a telephoto lens (i've seen it called a teleconverter and that's why i called it one) for a digicam, not an actual teleconverter for a SLR. the 3x ones are made by konka, with 52mm threads. i'm visiting a friend who owns one, and was looking to buy it from him, depending on optics quality and amount of vignetting.

for an actual 3x teleconverter, a quick search on ebay shows that olympus, vivitar, and komura make one. it would cause a loss of 3 stops, yea.

I can't wait to see those. Always wondered what double the aperture would do compared to my 8" SCT. Is yours a schmidt cassegrain type as well?

interesting, im curious as to the pic quality loss as well, even the best 2x TCs have some quality loss
