I think Consumer Reports rated the CX-5 as the best SUV last year. My boss bought one and seems to like it. I'm not a fan of the front styling though. Seems to be a Mazda thing.

I've had a rental CX-5 for a few days now and am impressed. Not sure about the trim level. It has keyless entry and ignition, but no sunroof, leather, nor premium sound.

Handling, and fit & finish are great. Buttons feel solid. Ergonomic and sensible controls - I learned everything in the first couple of minutes. Comfortable seats and spacious trunk.

Cons: Awful sound in base stereo, base engine needs more power.

I can't help but compare this to the Ford Escape, and feeling the CX-5 is much better.

The difference between the 2.0 and 2.5 liter engines is only about 30 horsepower, but it makes a world of difference in how the vehicle feels and drives. Can't comment on the stereo as my 3 has the Bose system and it's by far the best factory sound system I've enjoyed, although obviously not as good as an aftermarket solution.

HP does not mean much. Torque does.

I used to have 2.0 CX-5 and changed it for 2.5 CX-5 as well.

Night and day difference. Just forget CX-5 with 2L engine.

Congrats OP! We are pretty big Mazda fans at our house.

A bit OT, but would you mind posting a pic of the Mustang I see in the garage? Looks pretty nice as well. My last two rides have been Mustangs. Can't wait for the next!

I'd second that. You will pay a lot when changing 19" tires. Many have traded entire wheels with tires for 17" in the forums I linked above.

I asked if they could downsize out of the gate. But the model i got didnt have an option for smaller than 19". Is digging down into the snow desireable? That is my current problem. They dig down and create a situation they get stuck. I will have to see what my tires width is on my A4. But I want to say those tires are as wide or wider. And it floats on top of the snow and just churns its way forward.

White on an SUV is awesome if the curves are right. The OP needs bigger rims to complete the look.

As for the tires issue, I have 20" 315 width in the back and they're not ideal for snow obviously but they do fine when it's not deep snow. I don't know where you live Genx87, but you should swap to narrower winter tires and keep the 19s for all other seasons. Personally I hate losing the look so I keep the 20s on mud & snow rated Toyo Proxes STII all-seasons year round and don't get too gung-ho when it snows more than 6". Hell when it's 6" they tell everyone to stay inside anyway.

Im too cheap to get two sets of tires. I had that for my Audi and sold the winter rims. I live in the winter wonderland called MN in the Minneapolis area.
