Well to all the fans of my setup, I am sorry to announce it is changing a lil bit as of tomorrow. I have gotten a few upgrades, and of course once it is all set up I will have new pics for everyone to view.

Also I am sorry that most of my pics aren't working. My hosting expired from my website and I didn't feel like renewing it cause I barely use it, besides uploading a few files here and there.

Anyway for the people interested I will be upgrading to the following hardware:

-AMD 64 X2 3800+
-Asus A8N32-SLI motherboard
-Zalman CPNS9500 heatsink
-7800GTX with NV Silencer 5 Rev.3
-Raptor 150GB
-OCZ Gold 2GB RAM

Everything else will remain the same for now... Anyway check back later this week for new pics :)

lol more pics about your outstanding wiring job that makes everyone jealous? great! =P

i have a similar setup and i really like the passively cooled motherboard coupled with the P180. the wiring job isn't as great as yours, but i bought extensions to keep wires from criss-crossing across all over the place.

if you don't get the temperatures that you expected from that CPU cooler, try lapping it.

Well of course... but I will be hooking up the Zalman to my fan controller and running it at 5v all the time except for when I'm gaming. So it shouldn't be too much louder than my Ninja with the Yate Loon (orange) running on it.

Really? I have had many Zalman coolers so far, and I haven't had any problems with whininess from any of them. I agree they are loud when running at 12v, but once you lower them to 5v they have never been noticable to me, unless my ear is right by the case.

I guess I'll find out tonight when I get home. I have tracked my package here from work, and its been delivered, waiting for me to get home and install the goods...

To be honest I like the Ninja because its definately the best heatsink to use passively, but its downfall is the size and installation process.

The Ninja is huge, and takes up alot of space inside your computer making it difficult when you are working around inside your PC. It get in the way of just about anything near the are of the CPU. Ram is inaccessible when a fan is installed onto the Ninja. And the 4pin connector on top of the mobo is also inaccessible.

Installing the Ninja is definately the most annoying part of owning it. Since its so huge once again, when installing it while the mobo is inside the case it makes it difficult cause you are limited in space. And the clips that you need to install it are so annoying, cause I hate applying pressure like that every time cause I always feel like I am going to break something. Also the 2 clips used to install the fan are also annoying to install.

Besides those 2 issues the Ninja is a great heatsink, but I think I work around inside my PC too often, therefore making it a nuisance when trying to access other parts inside the PC.

The Zalman was super easy to install, and the size is smaller than the Ninja and doesn't get in the way of anything. Yes it is much louder when the fan is running at 12v, but at 5v it doesn't bother me at all.

I got this case and love it. DO NOT get the OCZ Modstream PSU with this case, however. I seriously thought I'd have to return the PSU and go for another one, which was a shame because the OCZ component aspect I really liked (and it comes with a lot of extras that came in handy for wire management). The problem is the power cables BARELY reached to the upper parts of the case, where the motherboard power connectors are located. Not to mention the unit itself just barely fit into the alotted space at the bottom.

As for wires, I just tied them all up together and shoved them into the spare harddrive bay. And I agree, the case is very quiet. I still switched out the standard fans for some Scythe S-FLEX 120mm fans and now it's even quieter, if that's possible to believe. I have my vid card fan values throttled down so the only thing that's loud is my CPU fan when it is under load. That sucker is loud (some fan I picked up at Best Buy), but that doesn't happen often.

Hey guys I'm sorry I haven't posted my pictures yet, but I am having some technical difficulties with my system right now. It seems that my new RAM doesnt work well with my motherboard, so right now I'm in the process of troubleshooting my system to see what exactly the problem is and if I have to get anything RMA'ed. But I promise as soon as I get everything up and running perfectly I will have those pictures posted up for everyone to see...

Dynamix3D,

Great pictures. I have the same case and motherboard as you do and am wondering why you replaced the rear exhaust fans. Do they cool better than the Antec fans or more silent? Additionally, how where/how do you plug in the rear fans to the power supply? Are the cords run under the motherboard?

Thanks

nice clean system. I hope to have one looking just as nice very soon :) It looks like that case will do well for my rig. I like my PC-65, but it
is a bit cramped...and with my setup I am thinking I need 120s to get the heat out at a decent volume.

Did any of you who use or used the Ninja lap it? I know the base is kinda rough, but all the X-90s I have been using has spoiled me, and now I am
too lazy to lap it lol. But if you did, and had a good temp reduction, I would go for it. I will be searching the forum too by the way :)

Hey Dynamix, I got almost the same setup waiting to be built. I thought the CPSN9500 would be quiet compared to the stock ... is it quieter? I read the same horror stories about setup on the Ninja so I went with the Zalman. Also, the pics don?t show your 9500 hooked to anything but the mobo (unless I am missing something). How did you hook it to a fan controller with under-volter (made up the word ;) ) and what model did you use? Have you had any cooling issues with it under-volted? I imagine you had to disable the CPU fan monitor in the BIOS? I will be Ocing my Opty 170 to 2.4 so I may not be able to under-volt due to temps but I like QUIET!! That?s why I went with this case and Akasa 120 fans. Nice wiring BTW!

Love it, especially the job on the ribbon ide cables, nice and flat. You must get great airflow with that kind of organization...:D

when you take photos, use the flash. those creative angles you're trying for would be better if you can see the inside.

- no audio cables
- no asus brackets used

you're not utilizing the case to full capacity. you'd be challenged to pretty your rig with the addition of drives [even just raid], usb card reader, brackets -- as others have. it will very quickly look less neat when you no longer have the luxury to dedicate single power cables to each drive as you do now. but then again, that would go against the "as few as possible" method you've impressed everybody with. the p180 can take 11 drives(?)... you're using 4 yes? not even a floppy? or not connected yet?.

with all due respect, i'm interested to know what you can do with something properly challenging... your setup is rather elementary by skilled people's standards. your cable management to true cable management is what a juggler of 3 is to a juggler of 10... the juggler of 10 might make it in America's Got Talent.

you wouldn't happen to be asian would you?
