Well, I've recently put in a 7800gt and a x2 3800, so I figured I'd take a few pics.

The specs are the same as my sig, minus the Audigy 2 that was removed due to some strange conflict that kept locking my system up... Also, two more sticks of RAM were removed in hopes of stabilizing the system prior to finding out it was the Audigy.

I'm getting a Zalman chipset cooler, black motherboard plugs, heatshrink, sleeving and a 3.5 bay fan controller in a few days. After I fix up the wiring some more, I'll post some pics... before and after. :)

Here ya go:

I was thinking of upgrading to a DFI board/better ram, however I figured the $$ to performance wouldn't be worth it in the long run, seeing as how far along s939 is already. However, any thoughts on the next upgrade performance wise would be appreciated, along with any visual mod ideas you guys might have. :)

Edit: Yeah, that missing PCI bracket is from where the audigy was yesterday... :/

Thoughts/Comments/Ideas?

Nice job man! Thats a nice looking rig, neat wirring job, looks good, must run awesome! I like trhe heatsink on your 7800 too! The white fan on your cpu looks nice too. Nice choice of components!

Thats a Thermaltake SilentCat 92mm fan. Its a tad louder than everything else at full blast, and the CPU fan is going to be the hardest run thing, so I ordered a panaflo. I'm going to see how that works out.

Dude, Ram is placed in wrong sockets
If you only have 2 sticks of ram, in order for it to run 128bit (dual channel) you need to populate either slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 (I recommend 2 and 4)

Nice work. I just finished a few builds with that case. Very, very nice case; the only thing that bugs me is the lametastic "Praetorian" font on the top but it's easy to remove. Regarding the wiring I think you can actually do a better job using flat IDE cables to optical drives with some clever folding so you may want to consider that. How are you dealing with the MSI's loud chipset HS/F?

P.S.

Your MB back plate is obstructing your PS2 mouse port ;).

Na, not with this board. Its 1,2 or 3,4. Thanks for the thought though.

I ordered a Zalman Chipset cooler. Hopefully I can get it to work in conjunction with the Zalman VF700Cu on the 7800gt... I wonder if I can flip the thing around...

The "thing"?

Sorry, the VF700cu, or the heatsink on the 7800gt. I bought the 'thing' for my x850 pro originally, which is now in my gf's computer. As of right now, the edge of the vf700cu is overlapping the chipset heatsink. I'm wondering if I can flip the vf700cu around to use the other two mounting holes...

Well, I just did it, and it worked, there are four heatsink mounting holes, and so I just used the other two. However, it looks like the card itself may be in the way. Meh.. We'll see when I get it.

Yeah, hopefully it works out. Most of the AMD nForce4 boards put the chipset in a pretty terrible location...

Okay, no wonder.

BTW, my wiring is MUCH worse than that.
Which reminds me...
I need to do my biweekly case cleaning... >.<

Yeah, I used the AOpen nCK804Ua-LFS for a few builds and it also places the chipset in a much better location, leaving plenty of room for large passive heatsinks. seen here.

Sadly the board has a design flaw in that it reads all CPU temps about 20C too high which is too bad since the board is flawless otherwise.

OP...nice rig...EXCEPT... Raptor mounting looks NASTY!

I have found some decent rubber bushings that you can use to mount a HDD in 5.25 slot...PM and I will give you details...
