How the hell does the FDA allow this stupid marketing trick of presenting itself as less calories/more servings per jar?

Apparently it didn't accur to anyone here that it's probably based on weight. And the FDA probably based that on an average size. So those particular vlassic pickles will be rated at 3/4. Where as the other sizes will vary as to serviing size depending on the pickle size. So basicly the serving amount always stays the same regardless of the size of the pickle.. makes sense to me.

No, Gerald Ford's age is senseless. This probably is a result of the FDA requiring that a serving be X grams , where X corresponds to 3/4 of a spear.

Not only can they make the serving size whatever they want, they can also round down amounts of 0.5g/serving or less to 0. Now that labels are required to explicitly list trans fat content, one trick used by some manufacturers is to make the serving size small enough such that the amount of trans fat per serving is only 0.5g. They then round this amount down to 0, making it look like there is no trans fat present. They can't lie about the actual ingrediant list though.
